Cohiba Siglo VI paired with Havana Club Cohiba Atmosphere Union
This Cohiba Siglo VI comes from the Silver Humidor from 2015. It was created on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of La Casa Del Habano in the Hotel Habana Libre. Only 100 of these were produced. My copy has the number 44/100. Here is a 30-sec clip to enjoy:
A cigar test is subjective
Note: How a cigar tastes is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the form of the day, what you have eaten or drunk beforehand. Even the lighting in the room has an influence on the flavour you experience. The notes described here therefore do not necessarily correspond to your own impressions.

Personal impressions of the flavour of the Cohiba Siglo VI
Recommended minimum ripening period: 6 years.
First half
- Tongue, palate: Lots of nuts and dark chocolate with a pinch of grass. Wood and some earth. Fantastic balance!
- RetronasalFantastic roasted flavours of burning, light wood.
- R+ ZiZo vacuum technology: A full load of roasted flavours of dark espresso beans.
- Umami: juicy / „roasted“
- Strength 3/5

Second half
- Earth, wood, slightly grassy (typical Cohiba characteristic), lots of nut. Retronasal a dream and with the R+ ZiZo vacuum technology you are practically in heaven. Strength 3/5.
Conclusion of the cigar and the pairing
It was a perfect pleasure for me. The balance of the Cohiba Siglo VI is enormously rich in flavour. The ageing period of currently 6 years has clearly done the cigar good. I also tasted it when it was about 5 years old; here is the article about it.
Here is a 30-second video clip:
At the time, the flavour was a little bit on the bitey side, which is of course no fault of the cigar. This was my last of a total of 10. I tasted them in 2020 and 2021. And every few months, the cigar became more balanced and moved a little closer to heaven.
I may have tasted this last one at just the right time. The pairing with the iced rum was unique. The rum tasted slightly of caramel and vanilla, perhaps even a little citrusy now and again. I know that we enjoy rum here without ice. But in the Caribbean, always with ice.
Because it was quite warm and humid in the lounge today, I almost felt like I was in Havana, Cuba. So I had to try the rum with ice. A marvellous treat.
