Villiger 1888 Torpedo test report

Villiger 1888 Torpedo test report

Villiger 1888 is a mild cigar with a beautiful, rather light brown wrapper. I really like the Torpedo. Its subtle aromas increase when smoked. I tested three examples. They all had practically the same characteristics. A quality product and a very nice long filler. Testing cigars is exhausting, believe it or not. That's why it was a FEST for me during this test to just sit down and enjoy the cigar because I already know it 🙂

A cigar test is subjective

Note: How the cigar tastes is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the shape of the day, what you have eaten or drunk before. Even the lighting mood in the room has an influence on the experienced taste. The notes described here therefore do not have to match your own impressions.

Conclusion

I had already tested the Villiger 1888 Torpedo in 2020. It was very interesting to read my review back then. Because I had almost identical impressions to my current test. The cigar does not remain boring, but develops over the course of the smoke. Very pleasant.

The tobacco used is very good. The wrapper leaf is delicate and comes from Ecuador. You can tell. It has this typical acidity and is slightly bittersweet, but mixed with coffee beans. That's why the bittersweet is very pleasant. I am a fan of Ecuador wrapper leaves.

This cigar is very suitable for a beginner. It is mild and yet has subtle flavors that are really great. A completely uncomplicated cigar.

For me as an advanced cigar connoisseur, this cigar is always a highlight. On the one hand, because it simply looks great. On the other hand, it caresses my palate. A top cigar for me personally.

And for you?

  1. I have had a few of the previous 1888 Torpedo blend go up in smoke. Very high, consistent quality, uncomplicated, delicious. Great for beginners! Too light for me now. However, I haven't actually tried the current blend yet.
