Villiger 1492 Short Perfecto Tasting

Villiger 1492 Short Perfecto looks very special. It has a pointed cigar foot and a pointed cigar head. Hard to roll. How does it taste? I clarify this with this test post.

A cigar test is subjective

Note: How the cigar tastes is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the shape of the day, what you have eaten or drunk before. Even the lighting mood in the room has an influence on the experienced taste. The notes described here therefore do not have to match your own impressions.

The cigar is rolled so well that it even stands on the pointed head. But only with the help of the cutter 😉

Second half

  • Strength 2/5
  • The cigar remains more or less linear. Very suitable for the beginner. In the course of the second half, the wood and coffee beans become somewhat more dominant.

This little rascal makes quite steam!

Conclusion

The official text of the manufacturer reads: "The format Short Perfecto is rather rare on the cigar market. Because the cigar format tapered on both sides is comparatively difficult to roll. This calls for the dexterity of the most experienced torcedores. However, the special effort that the cigar rollers have to make when producing a Short Perfecto pays off with a particularly exciting smoking experience: As the smoke travels through the different diameters of the cigar as it smokes, the flavor of the Short Perfecto transforms several times."

I can conditionally agree with the last sentence. As an experienced cigar connoisseur, the cigar is a very welcome change for me: It remains more or less linear and is therefore completely uncomplicated for me. I can just enjoy the variety of flavors on the side while I let my mind wander.

However, I believe that a beginner will have a special pleasure with this cigar: Because he will indeed notice the intensity of the taste changing in the course of the smoke.

Here we have a top quality product. A Villiger Longfiller cigar with a very special look. I like the cigar for the quiet and simple moment.

The Connecticut wrapper from Ecuador is always something special. This typical taste of wood and cocoa (bittersweet), mixed with some acidity, just tastes very different than Connecticut wrappers from other countries. I love the wrapper leaves from Ecuador.

I wonder if you could make the flavor even more refined with a binder from another country? Maybe from the Dom. Republic or from Honduras? Or Nicaragua? You would just have to try it out. Dear VILLIGER master blenders: will you try this? 🙂

The fire was crooked only in the first three minutes or so. After that, completely uncomplicated burning. Very high quality of the rolling.
