Anyone who knows the exclusive 5-star deluxe hotel knows: The Chedi Andermatt is different. The Chedi Andermatt is much more than a luxury hotel. It is a destination in its own right. Since opening in 2013, the jewel created by investor Samih Sawiris has been crowned and honored with sheer numbers of awards. The recipe for success lies in differentiation. And in the unique spa. And also in the exceptional cuisine, in the unique experiences, realized by a team dedicated with heart and soul.

In 2013, star architect Jean-Michel Gathy created an architectural icon in the Swiss Alps with The Chedi Andermatt. At 1,447 meters above sea level, Asian flair meets casual elegance. The open design and spacious rooms reflect an informal form of hospitality. The deluxe hotel offers relaxation and enjoyment in a relaxed atmosphere without a stiff 5-star corset. Five restaurants and bars as well as a 2,400-square-foot spa round out the offerings. Exceptional Signature Experiences make the stay an experience. The Chedi Andermatt is the centerpiece of the up-and-coming mountain village of Andermatt with 119 casual and unique rooms and suites.

Taste the difference: Culinary superlatives

With four atelier kitchens, chef Carsten Kypke whisks guests away to the symbiosis of Asian and Alpine dishes in The Restaurant and delights with a globally unique highlight, a five-meter-high Cheese Tower made of glass that tempts guests with more than 40 regional and national delicacies. The two Japanese gourmet restaurants, one of which is located in the heart of the hotel and one high up on the mountain at 2,300 meters above sea level, create just as much of a sensation.

This makes The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt the highest Japanese restaurant in Switzerland. Both Japanese gourmet restaurants have been awarded one Michelin star each, The Japanese Restaurant has also been ennobled by GaultMillau with 17 points, and its sister restaurant on the Gütsch with 15 GaultMillau points. From May 2023, the two talented twins and top chefs Dominik Sato and Fabio Toffolon will take the reins at The Japanese Restaurant and The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt.

Both Sato and Toffolon worked in leading positions at the best chefs in Switzerland and Europe - now they combine their expertise as executive chefs at the 5-star deluxe hotel and inspire national and international guests with their culinary skills.

Asian-inspired and covering 2,400 square meters, the breathtaking The Spa and Health Club presents a sensory experience in a class of its own. The architecturally beautifully designed hydrotherapy area with sauna and steam baths, the longest indoor pool in Switzerland at 35 meters, a heated outdoor pool with panoramic views, and the luxurious spa suites are spread over three floors and offer space for personal development. The high-quality products of the two exclusive cosmetic lines Omorovicza and Tata Harper, applied in finely tuned, Far East-inspired treatments, ensure unforgettable, differentiating spa moments and a new you.

Live the difference: Signature Experiences

Some "once in a lifetime" experiences are probably only available at The Chedi Andermatt. And it is also the pride of the dedicated team that this is so. These special Signature Experiences appeal to all the senses and range from impressive Herbal Hikes to even alpine cheeses to racy vintage car panoramic drives over the breathtaking Tremola. The James Bond package as a homage to Andermatt as a film set, "Labels of Love" with a private shopping experience or "a decade of timeless travel" together with Hublot also stand for very special, personal experiences in a class of their own. Signature Experiences also include in-house experiences such as a visit to The Cigar Library, which boasts the largest selection of cigars in the hotel industry worldwide - with 900 different cigars from around 15 countries and numerous rarities and special editions.

Create the difference: living "The Chedi" philosophy

Living honest and warm hospitality at the highest level "creates the difference". Jean-Yves Blatt, who has been successfully managing the 5-star deluxe hotel for eight years with his experienced and dedicated team, is delighted: "I can hardly believe that our The Chedi Andermatt is already celebrating its 10th birthday. For me, the success of our hotel lies above all in a team that is prepared to go the extra mile for the guest.

Whether in housekeeping, in gastronomy, in the spa, in marketing or in the supervision of events. Be it in the creation of exceptional drinks, in the selection of our exclusive wines or already at the reception. From the very first reception to the farewell, we put all our efforts into the warm and exceptional care of our guests. For this commitment and for this extra mile, I would like to thank my team from the bottom of my heart."

About The Chedi Andermatt

Surrounded by the wonderful nature and year-round beauty of the Swiss Alps, The Chedi Andermatt elegantly blends in with the classic Andermatt ski chalets that characterize the image of this timelessly charming resort in the Ursern Valley. Designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects, the 5-star deluxe hotel, which opened in 2013, perfectly blends authentic Swiss alpine chic with Asian style.

Traditional materials such as warm woods and natural stone create an intimate and stylish atmosphere. This is reflected in the 119 spacious guest rooms and suites as well as in the hotel's comprehensive facilities. These include: The Restaurant, The Japanese Restaurant, The Winter Village including The Chalet (open only during the winter months), The Bar and Living Room, The Lobby, The Courtyard, The Wine and Cigar Library, and the 2,400-square-foot The Spa and Health Club.

With the gourmet restaurant The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt at 2,344 meters above sea level, the hotel operates the highest Japanese restaurant in Switzerland. In addition, The Japanese Restaurant has each been awarded a Michelin star since 2017 and The Japanese by The Chedi Andermatt since 2021. The Chedi Andermatt was repeatedly awarded the top ranking by the Forbes Travel Guide in 2023 and continues to rank among the best hotels worldwide.
