Skel Ton Gordo Tasting: The conclusion

I had the pleasure of trying the Skel Ton Gordo - an impressive format that leaves a lasting impression. The flavour of this cigar is sweet from start to finish, accompanied by nutty and woody notes. Its linear development makes it particularly suitable for beginners, as it is easy to enjoy. The strength is 3/5 and the GORDO format will be available exclusively in Switzerland when it is launched.

For experienced cigar smokers, the linearity may be too simple depending on their preference. Personally, I prefer cigars that offer more variety during smoking. I therefore normally avoid the Gordo format (even from other brands). But that is of course no fault of the cigar. Nevertheless, I have to say that the Skel Ton Gordo is a solid smoke with a very nice flavour. The smoking process was absolutely problem-free. Every now and then, there is a slight skewed burn, which can be corrected with the flame.

The visual design of the Anilla (cigar ring) is a real eye-catcher. It is almost cult in Germany and gives the cigar a special charm.

All in all, the Skel Ton Gordo is a recommendable cigar that is particularly suitable for beginners and can also offer experienced cigar smokers a pleasant change of pace. I really enjoyed the smoke.

A cigar test is subjective. The flavour of a cigar is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the mood of the day, what you have eaten or drunk beforehand. Even the lighting in the room influences the flavour experience. The flavour nuances described here therefore do not necessarily correspond to your own impressions.

About Tonio Neugebauer

The road to the cigar first takes me to Sardinia, but we'll start at the beginning.
In my youth, I learnt a trade, that of a plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology. But ever since my earliest childhood, I have felt the urge to travel and explore the beautiful world.

After successfully completing my apprenticeship, I completed military training abroad. Shortly afterwards, I decided to become self-employed in the field of industrial climbing on wind turbines. For over 4 years, I travelled almost all over Europe on business. In 2009, late one afternoon in Sardinia, a work colleague from Wales said to me, „Today we're smoking a cigar“. So I smoked my first cigar in an old English pickup truck in work clothes and climbing gear in Sardinia.

From that moment on, I knew that this product would determine my future. The feeling and flavour of smoking a cigar is indescribable and was to accompany me for the next few years. Two years later, I fulfilled one of my childhood dreams: I travelled alone on the Trans-Siberian Railway from Moscow to Beijing, and from there through China to Tibet. I got to know many different people and cultures, and everyone, regardless of their culture, had a desire for peace and enjoyment. So the dream of having my own cigar brand was firmly anchored in me. I spent another two years working for a company that specialised in offshore wind turbines.

In 2013, I turned my hobby and my dream into a career. I started working for a very large online retailer in northern Germany as a permanent employee. There I was given the opportunity to smoke and test a wide variety of cigars. I got to know a lot of nice people personally, including many importers and producers.

In 2016, I founded the company Tonio's Tabaco and my first cigar brand „Skel Ton - Live your Dreams“. My girlfriend was always at my side during this time and was very helpful in building up the brand over many years.

I hope that I have been able to give you a little insight into my life so far with this little digression.
