Skel Ton Gordo Tasting: The conclusion
I had the pleasure of trying the Skel Ton Gordo - an imposing format that leaves a lasting impression. The taste of this cigar is sweet from start to finish, accompanied by nutty and woody notes. Its linear development makes it particularly suitable for beginners, as it is easy to enjoy. The strength is 3/5 and the format GORDO is available exclusively in Switzerland at launch.
For experienced cigar smokers, the linearity can be too simple, depending on your preference. Personally, I prefer cigars that offer more variety during smoking. The Gordo format (even from other brands) I therefore usually avoid. But of course, that's not a fault of the cigar. Still, I have to say that the Skel Ton Gordo is a solid smoke with a very nice flavor. The smoking experience was absolutely smooth. Now and then there is a slight crooked burn, which can be corrected with the flame.
A real eye-catcher is the optical design of the Anilla (cigar ring). It is almost cult in Germany and gives the cigar a special charm.
All in all, the Skel Ton Gordo is a recommendable cigar that is particularly suitable for beginners and can also offer experienced cigar smokers a pleasant change. I enjoyed the smoke very much.
A cigar test is subjective. The taste of a cigar is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the shape of the day, what you have eaten or drunk before. Even the lighting mood in the room influences the taste experience. The taste nuances described here therefore do not have to correspond to one's own impressions.
About Tonio Neugebauer
The road to the cigar leads me first to Sardinia, but we start at the beginning.
In my youth I learned a trade, that of a plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology. But since my earliest childhood I felt the urge to travel and explore the beautiful world.
After successfully passing my training, I completed military training abroad. Shortly after, I decided to start my own business in the field of industrial climbing on wind turbines. For more than 4 years I crossed professionally almost all of Europe, in 2009 on a late afternoon in Sardinia, a work colleague from Wales said to me, "Today we smoke a cigar". So my first cigar I smoked in an old English pickup in work clothes and climbing gear in Sardinia.
From that moment I knew that this product should determine my future. The feeling and the taste of smoking a cigar is indescribable and should accompany me for the next years. Two years later, I fulfilled one of my youthful dreams: I traveled alone on the Trans-Siberian Railway from Moscow to Beijing, and from there through China to Tibet. I met many different people and cultures, and every person regardless of culture had a desire for peace and enjoyment. So the dream of my own cigar brand was firmly anchored in me. I took another two-year professional stopover at a company that specialized in offshore wind turbines.
In 2013, I turned my hobby and my dream into a profession. I started at a very large online retailer in northern Germany in a permanent position. There I was given the opportunity to smoke and test a wide variety of cigars. I got to know a lot of nice people personally, including many importers and producers.
In 2016 I founded the company Tonio's Tabaco and my first cigar brand "Skel Ton - Live your Dreams". My girlfriend was always by my side during this time and was very helpful in building the brand for many years.
I hope that with this little digression I could give you a little insight into my life so far.
