Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021 available from 16.09.21

Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021 available from 16.09.21 (varies by country). However, this line will not be available in Germany and Austria. Editor's note: This is because the base of the packaging can be used as an ashtray and the lid as a cigar board. This is prohibited by law in both countries; no such additions may be offered with tobacco products.

Addendum from 07.10.21: The Directorate General of Customs provides an answer in this article >

Addendum from 14.09.2021: The box of 10 has a fantastic price: CHF 360 - including ashtray and cigar board! There are 750 boxes of these in Switzerland and 9,700 boxes worldwide.

Addendum from 21.08.21 regarding Austria: Some readers have asked me about the fact that this law does not exist in Austria. I then made enquiries with an Austrian importer. He also asked a tobacconist about the Plasencia lidded ashtrays that were sold in Austria. The result: this law also exists in Austria. It is unclear why Plasencia still sells these cigars.

A specialty from the house of Davidoff

Can you smell that? No? ...that's a shame... 😉

When kitchen pioneers meet cigar visionaries, the world can expect the ultimate in cigar enjoyment. The finesse and sophistication of an internationally renowned chef is legendary - arguably only Davidoff's Master Blenders can match it. So when four of the world's best chefs lent the Davidoff Master Blender team their flavor expertise, it came as no surprise that the result was in the top league of taste.

After months of collaboration with Davidoff's team of Master Blenders, the...

  • ...Norbert Niederkofler*** Co-Owner of the Food Space & Restaurant AlpiNN in Italy,
  • ...Juan Amador*** from the Amador restaurant in Vienna,
  • ...Masa Takayama*** from Masa in New York City and
  • ...Jorge Vallejo from the Quintonil in Mexico City

...has found an outstanding synthesis of the culinary world and the world of premium cigars: the Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021.

"We are proud of our partnership with renowned three Michelin-starred chefs from Europe and the USA, as well as one of the brightest lights of Latin American cuisine. The third edition of our Davidoff Chefs Edition brings together the outstanding expertise of nine Michelin stars and is an expression of the shared values of the masters of these two arts.

Sourcing and combining only the finest ingredients. The respect for these ingredients and the sustainable way in which they are produced and prepared. The innovative ways in which these ingredients are combined and new sensory combinations are invented, resulting in sensational taste experiences," explains Edward Simon, CMO at Oettinger Davidoff. "Above all, the Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021 perfectly fulfills the aspiration of our shared passion: the love of the finest cigars," he adds.

The path to the perfect cigar to fill time wonderfully was challenging, but also inspiring, as the team consisted of the most brilliant palates in the world. The result prompted both Davidoff's master blenders and the chefs to respectfully state: ""Haute Cuisine" has led to "Haut Fumeur"."

The cigar: Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021

The Churchill format chosen for the Chefs Edition 2021 cigar (ring gauge 48 x 7″) takes the aficionado on a journey of taste that begins with a rich creaminess and is supported by notes of pepper and cedar wood. Gentle floral notes begin to develop in the second third, while hints of cinnamon and coffee are woven into the progressive sensory experience.

In the last third of the elegant Churchill format, the taste profile changes to a pleasant caramel flavor, combined with cocoa and renewed hints of the cedar notes from the beginning. The balanced blend consists of four carefully matured filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, which are wrapped in a Mexican binder and topped with an Ecuadorian wrapper.

Cigars.Zone Social Network will write a review. A little more patience. Coming at the end of September / beginning of October.

Exceptional ceramic pack

The cigars are presented in an unusual ceramic pack containing 10 cigars. The innovative and sustainable packaging can be reused after the cigars have been safely stored in the humidor. The base can be used as an ashtray, while the wooden lid becomes a beautiful serving tray for placing spirits glasses and cigar accessories.

Tobacco blend and format

  • Wrapper leaf: Hybrid 238 from Ecuador
  • Umbrella leaf: Negro San Andreas Seco from Mexico
  • Inlay: Piloto Seco, San Vicente Ligero, Piloto Visus and Hybrid 192 Seco from the Dominican Republic

  1. Otherwise there are no problems in Germany. As this vitola is offered exclusively in this container, this packaging does not, in my opinion, undermine any prohibition of additions. ?

      1. The aim of the prohibition of tie-ins is to ensure that the price of a tobacco product is not indirectly undercut by the addition of gifts. However, since this package/vitola is only available with the ashtray in a bundle, in my opinion this does not undercut the fixed tobacco tax. The situation would be different if this vitola were not a self-contained Limitada package, but if this cigar were offered in a regular distribution, even without the ashtray. In my opinion, however, this is not the case. You can talk for a long time, you can't teach a donkey to skate, no matter how hard you try.

        1. Nope. That's why Plasencia is no longer allowed to sell its boxes with the ashtray as the lid of the box. They have stopped producing such boxes. In Germany and Austria, JARS are also no longer allowed to be sold with the cigars, but separately. They're all screwed up morons who initiate such laws and then other screwed up morons approve them. Of course, my use of the phrase "knotted-up douchebags" is meant in jest, and in no way do I really mean "knotted-up douchebags"; such people do an important job and make sure that the consumer is protected from tobacco consumption. I would like to see big stickers on the packaging of all sweets, ready meals, fast food and junk food saying "Sugar and sweeteners are addictive and lead to diabetes and death". As a form of compensatory justice. I'm going to eat first -ups- I meant: I'm going to enjoy a cigarillo first.
