Tasting Davidoff Nicaragua 10th Anniversary Limited Edition. Today I would like to introduce you to the tasting of this cigar. Firstly, I would like to congratulate Davidoff on its anniversary! In 2013, Davidoff took a new direction and gave the new Nicaragua line a black cigar ring instead of the previous white one. The very special inlay tobacco

I had the pleasure of testing the Gran Toro Jubilee cigar. As soon as you light it, you immediately realise that something very special has happened to the tobacco in the anniversary cigar: the filler tobacco was allowed to mature for 6 months in a rum barrel, which is a first for Davidoff. This maturing process gives the smoking experience a creamy, smooth flavour right from the start. Light notes of pepper, nuts and wood characterise the taste at the beginning. In the first half, the intensity increases slightly and coffee beans are added. As the smoke progresses, more coffee beans and further woody notes are added. Perhaps even a slight earthiness in the last third. Strength 3/5 (everyone feels differently, just like the flavour).

The course of enjoyment

An impressive format!

For me personally, the course of enjoyment was almost linear; occasionally the cigar broke out and gave me more depth before almost returning to the really very enjoyable, even course. The draw resistance was a little too light for my taste. But these two points are of course an individual preference and not a fault of the cigar. The smoke development is respectable and retronasal you can clearly perceive the rum (somehow like soaked wood mixed with nut, fascinating). The burn is excellent and the ash is stable.

The pleasure begins!

I just carefully cut open the cap and removed it. I did not cut the cigar as usual. This way, the tobacco is not squashed, but all the „air channels“ are open for enjoyment.

Conclusion

To summarise, I can say that the Davidoff Nicaragua 10th Anniversary Limited Edition is a very successful anniversary cigar. I was particularly impressed by the filler tobacco matured in rum barrels, which I could tell because I was slightly tipsy. Don't worry, I wasn't really tipsy, I was joking 😉 For the price of CHF/EUR 36.00, you get a very high-quality cigar with a great and very unusual flavour!
