Romeo Y Julieta Linea De Oro Hidalgos

Romeo Y Julieta Linea De Oro Hidalgos

Romeo Y Julieta Linea De Oro in the test. I tested the thickest format of the brand's new and most exclusive line: Hidalgos. 57 ring gauge x 125 mm length. The 20-count, very exclusively designed box costs CHF 400 / EUR 370, which is a fantastic price (CHF 20 / EUR 18.50 each).

A cigar test is subjective

Note: How the cigar tastes is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the shape of the day, what you have eaten or drunk before. Even the lighting mood in the room has an influence on the experienced taste. The notes described here therefore do not have to match your own impressions.

Conclusion Romeo Y Julieta Linea De Oro Hidalgos

The creation of this new premium line was decided to celebrate the 145th anniversary of the brand in 2020. Linea de Oro, the brand's most exclusive and elegant line. This new line consists of 3 new vitolas, two of them parejos and one figurado, all unprecedented in the Romeo y Julieta portfolio, introducing for the first time a "medium to strong" flavor within the brand.

The boxing date is interesting: April 2021. 25.01.2022 the cigar came into the Swiss trade. The cigars are packed in beautiful boxes. Each box is wrapped in clear plastic for protection. This is stowed in a felt bag and around it is a red cardboard box.

During this time, the cigars were able to mature slowly in this micro-climate. The maturing phase is not yet over, but it was already very good for the first smoke in January 2022.

Towards the finale, it becomes a little "hard" and "a little biting". This is not a fault of the cigar. It perhaps needs another year or two of ageing.

The ash: Stable and firm.

The visual impression of the cigar is very classy. The two Anillas look glamorous, perhaps a little ostentatious - well, I think "ostentatious" is a bit too much. Hmm... yes, it certainly looks glamorous. Noble? How about that word? The impression of the cigar is classy. Yes, I have a good feeling about it.

Boxing date: ABR 21 (April 2021). Good for enjoyment now. A year or two more maturing time will do it good.

And now the box. Yes. Simply wonderful.

Buy.

As always, "If the cigar tastes good to me, then maybe to you. But if you don't like it, then there's more for me!" 🙂

  1. I was lucky enough to get some and decided to smoke one straight away. Like Vasilij, I smoked the "big, fat one". I was pleasantly surprised by the strength. It is stronger than expected. A very tasty cigar at a very good price. I also found it totally normal in the last bit, more like "not so enthusiastic anymore". Definitely a great cigar.

  2. In my opinion, the design of the Linea de Oro boxes clearly surpasses everything that has gone before, with the exception of limited special series/humidors. I say Chapeau! I'm a fan of curly maple anyway. The Monte Linea 1935 boxes...no comparison. I think the retail prices are comparatively fair. Time will tell how the cigars develop. At this stage, some tasters consider the cigar to be "unfinished". I haven't smoked one myself yet, but the cold smell already stands out from the RyJ aromas I know. Well, I'll wait and see. I also stockpiled some Diana's and Hidalgo's.

  3. I was in the Casa del Habano Zurich last Friday, and when I asked when the Linea d'Oro would be coming out in Switzerland, he shrugged his shoulders and said "no idea" ?! But Grauer in Geneva has been offering them for a good 2 weeks ...
I find it strange somehow or not? Do the dealers find out 1-2 days before when they get the goods? And wouldn't a Casa be the first store to offer them ?
    Questions about questions ??

    1. I don't know how early the retailers will be informed by Intertabak AG's sales force. I received the media release on 21.01.22, and it was also sent to all retailers at the same time. Grauer in Geneva also does parallel imports, among other things. I know for sure that The Chedi Andermatt already had the line in house a few months ago. I think they bought it from Grauer.
