5 tips for cutting

  1. Choose the right toolImagine you're a top chef, but instead of a knife you use a double-blade cutter, cigar scissors, cigar knife or V-cutter. These little heroes of cigar cutting ensure a clean cut and prevent your cigar from looking like a sad corkscrew.
  2. Find the capThe cap is the cute little hat on your cigar. Look for the slightly rounded tip and cut directly under this cap. If you cut too high or too low, your cigar will look like it's had a bad haircut.
  3. The cutNow comes the fun part. Hold the cigar steady (don't wiggle it like in a horror movie) and put the cutter to work. Cut quickly and decisively - a clean cut makes for a royal smoke and prevents you from coughing like a chimney.
  4. Avoid mistakesDon't cut too deep, unless you want your cigar to fall apart like a poorly made burrito. And don't cut too short or you'll need a steam engine to get a hint of smoke.
  5. Enjoy the momentYour cigar is now ready to be lit and enjoyed. Take your time to enjoy the taste and craftsmanship - you are now officially a cigar connoisseur!

Follow these steps and your cigar will be perfect. Do you have any tips or favorite methods of your own? Let us know in the comments - and don't forget to share this post so that no one else experiences a cigar disaster!
