Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Gran Robusto Tasting
Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Gran Robusto Tasting. I have tested this cigar three times to give you a comprehensive impression. The very first glance at this cigar gives you great expectations: the cigar head is teasingly twisted into a „bun“ - really perfect! You'll find excess tobacco at the foot, and whether this keeps the cigar cooler when lit? I don't know, I haven't tested it with my tongue. But what I can say: The cigar can be lit without any problems. After the article you will find a link to the short film documentary with Raymondo Bernasconi

Community choice: Salomones or Gran Robusto?
On Instagram, I asked the community which format I should write about in May: Salomones or Gran Robusto. The result: 54 voted in favour of the Salomones, 48 for the Gran Robusto and 34 for both formats. So actually I should only have written about the Salomones. But as the votes in favour of the Salomones and the Gran Robusto were not that far apart, I decided to write a review of both. So here is the review of the Gran Robusto.

I tested the Gran Robusto and the Salomones. The community on Instagram decided.

Tasting notes of the Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Gran Robusto
As soon as it is lit, there is a subtle hint of pepper, which blends wonderfully with slightly salty and nutty notes - all very subtle and pleasant. The draw resistance is optimal, it smoulders long and uncomplicatedly. In the first half, it smoulders irregularly and wavy. This often corrects itself, but sometimes the flame had to help. In the second half, this was no longer an issue.

Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Gran Robusto: The wrapper comes from Ecuador, the binder from the Dominican Republic and the filler from Nicaragua.
Particularly interesting: on one of my three specimens, the ash opened up like a flower at the beginning - a fascinating phenomenon that no longer occurred after the first ashing. I did not observe this with the other two specimens.

The cigar „bun“ 😅 Perfectly twisted.
In terms of flavour, the Gran Robusto offers a very pleasant balance. You will notice salty, slightly acidic, slightly woody notes, as well as a lot of bittersweet cocoa. Over time, an earthy note is added and the wood and nut flavours become stronger. It is fascinating to observe how the cigar continues to develop as it is smoked - I particularly like that.

140mm length, ring 54 - a great format!
So, if you're looking for something special, treat yourself to the Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Gran Robusto. It offers a great experience not only visually, but also in terms of flavour!

The burn-off after the first ash is perfect.

Pleasure until the end! Great cigar!
