Vegueros Centrogordos Tasting. I have tasted three examples with the boxing date JUL 23 - high time for the tasting. With 89 ZiZo points in the Pleasure Test, this Cuban cigar has already shown that it will need its short ageing period of around 1-2 years. The Vegueros Centrogordos is not only a great cigar, but its compact size also makes it a perfect companion for today. I have tested three of them and would like to share my impressions with you. The Vegueros Centrogordos will be available in Switzerland from 24 October 2023 at Casa del Habano and from 31 October at Habanos Specialist Stores.

The quality of Vegueros Centrogordos

Outstanding! The cigars are well rolled and have a beautiful wrapper. The draw resistance is optimal and the burn was even.

They are packed in a cellophane bundle. You leave the cigars wrapped like this and place them complete with the aluminium box in the humidor. When I opened the cellophane, I discovered a beguiling, warm tobacco aroma - fantastic!

The first five minutes

The strength of the cigar is light (2 out of 5 on the scale), which makes it a pleasant choice for beginners and connoisseurs. But beware: it gets stronger as the smoke progresses and ends up at a strength of 3 out of 5. The flavour in the first five minutes was already promising, light and pleasant.

The first and second half of the Vegueros Centrogordos

The ash of the Vegueros Centrogordos is compact. The ash contains white dots. This is an indication of a particularly aromatic wrapper leaf, as it contains „oil deposits“ from the plant.

During smoking, the aftertaste remained subtle and positive, and I detected a very slight salty aftertaste in two of the samples tested. The aroma of the smoke was subtle and round, and the flavour was pleasantly grassy with a slight hint of nuts. A hint of pepper and wood rounded off the flavour experience. The retrohale even had a delicate blend of coffee beans and wood.

The enjoyment of the Vegueros Centrogordos was almost linear, but a slight increase in the woody notes was noticeable as it progressed. It is already an extremely pleasant and uncomplicated cigar. I'm already looking forward to the next tastings in one and two years' time, when the cigars from the aluminium box have reached their full maturity. In the meantime, give them some time to mature and you will be rewarded with an even more intense enjoyment experience.

Conclusion

Now it still tasted a little „rough“, but that is not a fault of the cigar. It needs a maturation period of 1-2 years.

I can recommend the Vegueros Centrogordos without reservation. It is not only a visual delight, but also offers a wonderful journey in terms of flavour. A perfect choice for anyone looking for an uncomplicated, high-quality and inexpensive Cuban cigar.
