Aladino cigars: a change of scenery for the legend from Honduras

The time has come: after four years at August Schuster GmbH & Co. KG, the Aladino cigars are packing their boxes and changing hands. From April 2025, StarkeZigarren from Berlin will take over the import of the well-known cigars. This means that a legend is leaving Bünde in East Westphalia and moving to the capital - and there are tangible reasons for this.

Aladino cigars

Starkezigarren.de is to significantly expand the distribution network in Germany.

Germany falls short of expectations

"We haven't seen any development at Schuster and gaining 20 retailers in four years is far too little. In the USA, 800 retailers currently sell Aladino cigars," says Justo Eiroa, son of cigar legend Julio R. Eiroa. Clear words that show: The brand has great ambitions and wants to finally reach the audience it deserves in Germany too.

After all, Germany is the third largest cigar market in the world. The fact that Aladino cigars do not have a stronger presence here is a real annoyance for Justo Eiroa. "The brand is far too big and successful everywhere - but not in Germany," he emphasizes. The switch to StarkeZigarren is intended to finally change that. And the chances are good, because StarkeZigarren has already built up an excellent reputation with exciting brands from Nicaragua. Now the range is getting a major boost with Aladino from Honduras.

Julio R. Eiroa: A legend on four wheels

Anyone who has heard the story of Julio R. Eiroa will understand why Aladino cigars are much more than just a smoking product for many cigar lovers. The 87-year-old Cuban exile is a true legend - and not just in Honduras. Despite his advanced age and a plane crash that almost cost him his life, he sits at his desk every day at seven in the morning. The way there? Over a bumpy sandy road. It's a passion he lives and breathes, which is also reflected in every single cigar.

Julio R. Eiroa comes from a family that emigrated from Spain to Cuba in 1915/16. He left the country after the Cuban revolution, later became involved in the failed Bay of Pigs invasion and served in the Korean War. He finally came to Honduras in 1962 - and from then on devoted himself to tobacco. Today, his family is one of the largest tobacco producers in the country. With 220 hectares under cultivation, it is an institution in Honduras.

A strong portfolio for strong cigars

The addition of Aladino cigars is an exciting premiere for StarkeZigarren. Never before has the Berlin importer had a brand from Honduras in its range. In addition to Aladino, the "Rancho Luna" and "Tatascan" brands from the Eiroa family will also be distributed by StarkeZigarren in future. This will make the range even more diverse - and customers can look forward to exciting new discoveries.

The combination with the already established brands in the StarkeZigarren portfolio is particularly exciting. Alongside Rojas Cigars and Victor Calvo cigars from Nicaragua, the new brands form an impressive line-up. So anyone shopping at StarkeZigarren in future will be spoilt for choice - and have plenty to enjoy.

Why this change is more than just a change of importer

The change of Aladino cigars is not only an exciting personnel matter, but also a signal to the German market. Aladino stands for perfect craftsmanship, decades of experience and a family that puts its heart and soul into its work. With StarkeZigarren, the brand now has a partner at its side who wants to finally exploit this potential.

Whether you're a cigar lover or a newcomer, the name Aladino should be on everyone's wish list. The brand not only brings the taste of Honduras to humidors, but also a story that makes the heart of every aficionado beat faster.

Conclusion: A new beginning with lots of potential

The switch to StarkeZigarren could actually mean a breakthrough for Aladino cigars in Germany. With an importer who understands the German market and has recognized the enormous potential of the brand, all signs point to success. So cigar lovers can rejoice: from April 2025, it will be "Aladino - now also from Berlin!" And who knows - maybe in a few years, not just 20 retailers, but 800 in Germany will have the legend from Honduras in their range.
