Zino Nicaragua Relaunch TEST of the Robusto
Zino Nicaragua Relaunch TEST of the Robusto! ZINO carried out the RELAUNCH of the brand on 06.05.2021. The brand is aimed at a young target audience. This is also reflected in the graphic design: young, dynamic, active. I am 56 years young and also feel very close to this target group ? This Robusto smells very different to the other two formats in the line. I explain everything in this article. The relaunch is presented here >
30-second clip on the relaunch
A cigar test is subjective
Note: How a cigar tastes is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the form of the day, what you have eaten or drunk beforehand. Even the lighting in the room has an influence on the flavour you experience. The notes described here therefore do not necessarily correspond to your own impressions.

Fact Sheet Zino Nicaragua Robusto
In all formats, the cigars have the identical blend of tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, which are surrounded by a Nicaraguan binder and finished with an Ecuadorian wrapper. The medium-bodied cigars surprise with a round flavour of fresh pepper, cream and a hint of café au lait, which matches the preferences of the occasional aficionado.

Personal impressions of enjoying the Zino Nicaragua Robusto
Recommended acclimatisation: 7 days with cellophane.
First half
- Tongue, palate: sweetish / lots of cocoa / some pepper / wood
- Retronasalslightly peppery / roasted flavours of wood
- R+ ZiZo vacuum technology: Extremely rich roasted flavours of wood
- Umami: slightly juicy / slightly acidic
- Strength 2/5
Second half
- The flavour becomes more intense. From around the second half, the cigar becomes somewhat bitter. This is not a fault of the cigar. It takes a little longer to acclimatise than the other two formats (Short Torpedo and Toro).
- Strength 3/5

Conclusion Zino Nicaragua Robusto
With this format, I really noticed the honey-sweet aroma of the wrapper. I don't notice this with the other two formats (Toro and Short Torpedo). I find it very exciting how the cigars with the same tobacco blend taste and smell differently. All three formats (Toro, Robusto, Short Torpedo) have the same tobacco blend.
The Robusto is completely uncomplicated. It smoulders very well. I noticed the somewhat bitter flavour from about the second half. However, this is not a fault of the cigar. I suspect that the Robusto simply needs a little more time to acclimatise. Give it about 2 weeks. But test one immediately after purchase.
Buy recommendation: Oh yes! I think the practical Freshpacks, which contain 4 cigars, are great. Very suitable for beginners who don't yet have a humidor and want to try this cigar. The price also convinces me.
In my opinion, the relaunch has been more than successful.

I had bought 2 Toros and smoked the 1st one immediately. Unfortunately, I didn't really find them convincing. However, now that I've read your Rubusto test, about 4 weeks after the first one, I feel like giving the second one a chance 🙂
Not everyone likes such light cigars, that's true. I'm looking forward to your second test.
I'm already looking forward to it.
It's due at the weekend at the latest 😉
So, yesterday I smoked the 2nd one. The 4 weeks of rest in my humidor have done it a lot of good and the cigar tasted much better than the first one I smoked straight after buying it. I don't really have such good taste buds and I almost always influence the flavour of the cigar with a drink anyway 🙂
However, I smoked this cigar „straight“.
So now I can share my amateurish assessment with you (you). ?
Smoke end winding and draw behaviour were very good. Once I had to correct a crooked burn. Otherwise it burned cleanly and quietly. The smoking time was rather short for a Toro (measured by my smoking speed). I was able to smoke for about 70 minutes. Now to the flavour, or rather the little that I can taste ?.
The cigar is light and I would give it a strength of 2 on a scale of 5. The 1st third was strongly characterised by woody notes. Only in the 2nd third could I taste spices in the background. Retronasally, I think I tasted light roasted flavours and a little pepper. In the 3rd third it became slightly stronger and I could only taste woody notes again.
My borrowing conclusion:
All in all, a well-made, light cigar without many surprises. Nevertheless, it is pleasant to smoke and has...hmmm....gemundet ?
That's super interesting. Acclimatisation is important for cigars during the day. I think your tasting description is very good, you don't need to hide. So, I don't taste peeled figs marinated with honey or anything like that with cigars? Thank you for taking the time to write this important addition. HAVE A GOOD SMOKE!
