Villiger La Meridiana Gigantes a bold pleasure experience

Villiger La Meridiana Gigantes

Villiger La Meridiana Gigantes is a fat, thick, long cigar. 165 mm long and 23.8 mm wide (60 ring gauge). Cigars this big often disappoint. And this one?

A cigar test is subjective

Note: How a cigar tastes is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the form of the day, what you have eaten or drunk beforehand. Even the lighting in the room has an influence on the flavour you experience. The notes described here therefore do not necessarily correspond to your own impressions.

Conclusion Villiger La Meridiana Gigantes

The Villiger La Meridiana Gigante is a quality product. The tobacco and the production of the cigar are all made in one country: Nicaragua. That's why a cigar like this is called a „Puro“. It deserves the format designation „Gigante“: long and thick. An almost imposing impression when you take the cigar out of your pocket in the beer garden and light it.

The workmanship of the Villiger La Meridiana Gigantes is first class: Great tobacco, very well rolled, beautiful wrapper - everything on the upper scale. I was surprised by the mildness of the cigar: 2/5 at the beginning for long stretches and 3/5 from the second half onwards. You can see here that Nicaraguan tobacco is not always very strong. A milder wrapper was chosen here, which combines the flavour nuances wonderfully.

I have tested two samples. I was struck by the chocolate notes mixed with cocoa and nuts. Quite marvellous.

Villiger La Meridiana Gigantes
It glows well and for a long time.

The burn-off is quite normal. Occasionally slightly wavy and it usually corrects itself. From the second half onwards, I rarely had to correct it with the flame. The ash is compact and firm. The Gigante smoulders easily and you don't have to keep pulling on it. This is a good thing, because otherwise the cigar would overheat and the flavour would be ruined.

A fat and at the same time totally cosy and relaxed smoke. And did you see the price above? Such a low price for such a cigar? Top - more is simply not possible.

Swiss retailers - wake up!

I was surprised to find almost no points of sale in Switzerland when I did a Google search. It is of course available in Villiger's online shop and at a few other retailers. Otherwise: dead in the water - especially as far as the big online shops are concerned. Hey - Swiss retailers - wake up! ?
