Review SAKA Sin Compromiso - Will my tasting report be without compromise?

SAKA Sin Compromiso. Available in Switzerland from 27.03.25! No. 2, No. 5 and No. 7 will be launched in Switzerland, followed later by No. 4, which has been awarded the title "Best Nicaraguan Cigar 2024" (CigarsLover). I tested two examples of the No. 5; a third one posed for the photos and the short video clip 😄. "Sin Compromiso" means without compromise. How uncompromising can I really be? Yes, and there's something else: my roving reporter Oliver Lampe spoke to Steve SAKA at InterTabac 24: Cigars for me, bourbon for you - A conversation with Steve Saka, the master of nonchalance

The cigar smokes mightily and also has other extreme advantages! Watch the short clip!

The cigars come in well-processed Boxes of 13 pieces. They cost: No. 2 & No. 5CHF 18.00 per cigar, No. 7CHF 19.00 per cigar.

But now to the pleasure - without compromise! SAKA Sin Compromiso!

Slightly boxpressed and very comfortable between the fingers. SAKA Sin Compromiso.

Easily boxpressed and fits very well between the fingers.

Sometimes you come across a cigar that doesn't just want to be smoked, but celebrated. A cigar that does not conform, but goes its own way - uncompromising, self-confident, almost defiant. Sin Compromisothat's her name, and her name says it all.

The above paragraph is a marketing text that you find more or less in this form again and again about this cigar. It reads quite well and arouses interest. Who doesn't want to live their life "without compromises"? The only thing that counts is what you want for yourself, everything else is secondary. I myself am becoming more and more immune to such texts - but I'm probably just jaded. Or how do you feel? Write it in the comments, I'd be interested to know.

Without compromise - my tasting notes

First things first: the Sin Compromiso is a very good cigar, rolled by hand and made with high-quality tobaccos. Even at first glance at the deep brown, slightly oily San Andrés Negro wrapper, you can see the care that has gone into this cigar. It smokes like crazy, as you can see in the video clip.

It is excellently rolled and contains high-quality tobacco.

The workmanship? No complaints. The cigar sits well in the hand, perfectly rolled and not too tight, slightly box-pressed. The wrapper feels supple, slightly oily and is of very good quality. You can see many small, almost white dots on the ash. These are oil deposits in the wrapper leaf, which makes it particularly aromatic. Wonderful, simply wonderful.

No, not exaggerated hype, but simply a cigar that impresses with its quality and character.

White dots on the ash indicate a very aromatic wrapper leaf. These are "oil deposits" on the wrapper leaf; when this burns, it releases a lot of aroma.

Cold draught - I am always amazed

Before the fire comes into play, I take a moment to take a cold draw. I hardly taste anything, but that's the case with most of the cigars I taste, and of course there's nothing wrong with the cigar. I am always amazed at how other cigar lovers display a sensory experience that is second to none, even on the cold draw. My sensory system is more like a woodcutter when it comes to the cold draw: hit it and that's it, there's no time for precision work 😁

Open fire - the journey of pleasure finally begins 🙂

With the first puff, a full-bodied smoke unfolds, soft and yet intense. The ash seems compact, but it falls to the ground after just under a centimeter. Never mind, give me some cheese and Schüfeli and that's it 😄 But wait! The ash holds very well during the first half! The cig resistance is too light for me personally, but a lot of flavor comes through, and I think that's great!

First half

The opening is sweet and creamy with notes of Cocoa and espresso. A subtle spiciness resonates, but it holds back - almost as if it is letting me arrive first. I love it when cigars do that to me!

Then, in the course of the first half, it picks up speed! Earth, even a pinch of peat and a peppery spiciness (not too strong) come to the fore, but the slight sweetness remains. You little minx...

The smoke is velvety, the balance is - masterful - really! The first half always brings a new nuance - as if the cigar is telling a story that continues to unfold with every word. So great!

Second half and finale

The intensity increases, the spiciness becomes more present, but everything remains harmonious. Espresso, dark chocolate (really great bittersweet, but not too much) and a subtle honey sweetness (the hard light stuff, and not the ultra-liquid sticky icky from the chemical factory) deliver a - yes, I say it on purpose - "uncompromising" conclusion. Not a sharp finish, but a gentle, almost melancholy goodbye. Well, come on Vasilij, you don't have to be so poetic; nobody will believe you!

From start to finish - a cigar that I really enjoyed and enjoyed a lot. It wasn't even scratchy or biting, but caressed my palate, tongue and nose. Oh yes, retronasal: Wow! Extremely roasted aromas of wood and espresso beans!

Conclusion - A cigar for connoisseurs

From start to finish, this cigar gave me a lot of pleasure and enjoyment.

The Sin Compromiso is a cigar that does not demand a great deal of attention, but rewards you with an extraordinary experience. Soft but powerful. Complex, but never overwhelming, with an excellent balance. Strength: 3/5 (but everyone perceives the strength a little differently).

It is an invitation to embark on a high level of enjoyment.

Have you already tried a cigar from the Sin Compromiso line or are you curious about it? Which vitola interests you the most - the No. 2, No. 5 or No. 7? And what do you think of the "Best Nicaraguan Cigar 2024" - is that a decisive reason for you to test the No. 4?
