Easter social media - why are we actually doing this?

Easter social media - oh my! I felt like I saw 5432 Easter greetings on social media over Easter. All friendly. All colorful. All with a hint of AI, stick bunnies and a sense of digital obligation. A nice ritual? But let's be honest: Why does this only happen on social media at Easter - and never at any other time? On a Tuesday, for example?

Easter social media? Why are we actually doing this? I treat myself to a Cohiba Siglo V from 2012 and think.
Easter social media - When the algorithm calls for resurrection
The same every year:
Good Friday is still quiet.
Something is building up on Saturday.
And then, Sunday morning at 08:00 sharpthe Internet explodes:
Bunny emojis, egg filters, motivational pictures with Bible quotes, and Easter bunnies with cigars.
And you?
Right in the middle.
Flooded with posts that radiate as much closeness as a thermal printer on malfunction.
What if we simply said on Tuesday: I'm thinking of you?
Let's be honest:
Why do we need a holiday to wish others well?
Why not just write on April 22 at 2:17 pm:
"I hope your coffee was good. And your Wi-Fi was stable."
No hashtags. No AI graphics carnage. No compulsion.
Just... humanity.
WITHOUT just "quickly throw out the AI Easter greeting, hit ..... and that's it. Duty fulfilled!"
Small impulse: Put your cell phone away - you can do it!
Just give it a try:
Put the cell phone for 10 minutes to the side.
No messages. No Insta-scrolling. No bunny content.
After that, you can catch up again.
Stress out for 20 minutes through stories, tweets, reels and group chats.
And then feel...
even more stressed than before.
Mission accomplished.
😂
Easter social media is like a disposable smiley face - nice, but not sustainable
I like greetings. I really do.
But maybe we'll get started, to be real in between.
Even without a holiday filter.
And if that doesn't work -
then just light a cigar.
She doesn't need a calendar.
Just silence. And a lighter for your cigar.
I was really pleased with my last newsletter - and no, not (just) because of the praise. Although: a little ego stroking is nice. 😅
But it was the feedback by e-mail that made the difference.
People have said thank you - for a text that made them laugh. And made them think at the same time.
And that's when I thought: maybe this does make sense. Maybe it does.
And you know what?
I'm going to light a cigar now.
Not out of protest. Not for self-reward.
Simply because they does not vibrate, does not beep, does not light up
and doesn't ask me if I've already taken 8,000 steps today.
It is simply there.
Slowly. Quietly.
An analog middle finger against holiday hypercommunication.
😂
Happy Tuesday!
Or whatever day it is.
Thinking of you. Without a hashtag. Without a like.
Only with smoke from my cigar.

Good Tuesday Vasilij,
I have to admit that I have created several picture greetings with the AI. The results were amazing. I've also been pushing "my community" with it and yes, you're right. It is tiring, increasingly annoying and is often/mostly meaningless on closer inspection. It's nice at first, but who was the sister of nice again?
So... Enjoy more peace and quiet with yourself or in a nice group.
Hi Mark, thank you so much for your honest comment - I really appreciate it!
Yes, at the beginning it is really fascinating what AI can do. These "wow" moments are undeniable. But then there comes a point when you realize: a lot of things look impressive, but somehow the soul is missing. As you say - it quickly becomes tiring and loses meaning. And the sister of nice... well, I think it's called whatever 😉.
I think your final sentence is great: more peace, more real enjoyment - with yourself or in good company. That's what cigar smoking is all about. Thank you for getting to the heart of the matter.
I'm not big on sending greetings and congratulations either. I usually reply, but I find it a bit stressful. Well, I do send congratulations to friends on certain birthdays. But without AI, I write something small myself, without a picture.
Where will this AI take us? People used to say that computers must not dominate us. It must work for us and not against us. What was the saying "office without paper" back then, and today?
Let's have a good smoke and see what's in store for us.
Hello Guido,
You speak from my soul! This whole "congratulations carousel" can quickly become a compulsory exercise - and then it loses its value. I think it's great that you still write birthday greetings yourself. Without pictures, without AI - simply from person to person. That's almost rebellious these days. 😄
I can well understand your thoughts on AI. What was once intended as a help quickly becomes a burden if you're not careful. And the paperless office... well, I think we have more printouts today than ever before - only now they're called "important documents for the Zoom call".
So yes: let's enjoy the moment with a good smoke. Without filters. Without pixels. Simply real.
It's quick: generate the image and send it off. Three minutes of work. "You used to write something yourself, but that's long gone now. It's true what you write, it's a good article!
Hello Andreas
Thank you so much! Yes, the three minutes are tempting - but sometimes it takes a few real, handwritten lines to make it really mean something. I'm so glad you enjoyed the article! 🙏😊
Thank you, how true, that's really something to think about, it's almost like a compulsion to always write on holidays. You are so right, you can also write at other times ✍️.
Now I'll put my cell phone aside and light a cigar. Lg and enjoy.
Hello Danilo,
That's exactly how it is - simply writing without an occasion often carries much more weight. And now: perfect decision with the cigar! Have a good time and enjoy the moment. Regards back! 😊🔥💨
🤣 Thank you for this text. I really did put my phone down for a moment after that. It was only 5 minutes, that was all I could do. But still! and before that I lit a cigar. I have to think now too 😁
Hello Harald
😄 Five minutes is five minutes - absolutely counts! And with a cigar, even quality time. Thank you for laughing and thinking along with me! 💨✌️
