I only cut a small piece of the cigar. After a few minutes I cut a little more. The draw resistance is optimal.

Personal impressions of the pleasure

Recommended acclimatisation: 10 days with cellophane in the humidor.

First half

  • Tongue, palate: Nutty / slightly peppery / dark cocoa / slightly woody / slightly acidic
  • Retronasal: peppery / dark cocoa / wood / coffee beans
  • R+ ZiZo vacuum technology: Peppery / lots of coffee beans
  • Umami: meaty / juicy / roasted
  • Strength 3/5

Second half

  • Slightly sweet on the tongue
  • The same flavour nuances as in the first half. However, noticeably more wood and now some leather / more coffee beans
  • Strength 3/5

The first 5 minutes are promising!

Conclusion

I tested two specimens. Both achieved the same results. The cigar continues to develop over the course of the smoke. It becomes „deeper“ and „darker“, marvellous. The burn is excellent. From time to time it smoulders slightly askew; this corrects itself very quickly.

I rave about the cover. The imitation of the tiger fur pattern is very well done.

The ash is stable. It fell off abruptly. This is not a fault of the cigar, but due to my ambition. „A little more, a little more, a little more... ZACK!“ 🙂 It's a little flaky.

I chose a black, unsweetened espresso as my drink.

The two specimens I tested glowed excellently. Smoothly, evenly and for a very long time. In the last third, I had to be a little careful not to let it burn out. I recommend acclimatisation for 10 days in cellophane and in a humidor. This is not a fault of the cigar, the tobacco simply needs to recover a little.

The ash is stable for a long time, falls off unexpectedly. This is not a fault of the cigar, but due to my ambition 🙂

The quality of the tobacco is outstanding, as is its successful blend. Special praise here to the marketing department at Oettinger Davidoff, which gave the master blenders the specifications. Very high praise also to the master blenders. They understood very well how to realise the marketing specifications.

However, this Davidoff Year Of The Tiger gets the crown for the wrapper. Unbelievable! I personally think that the pattern of the tiger skin has been realised very well. It is a natural process. More has not (yet) been revealed about it. Perhaps I can persuade Sam Reuter to do a Cigar ZEN programme with me, with the intention of him revealing the process to us. The espresso goes perfectly with the cigar. A rum that is not too sweet would also be very good. Or a sweet cocktail on ice. Perfect.
