Davidoff Millennium Lancero Limited Edition review
The Davidoff Millennium Lancero is a cigar that I tried at the slow tasting. Here is my report and a quiz. The novelty will be on sale from 06.04.23. It is a new edition of the former Millennium Blend Lancero. The box of 10 costs CHF 290.00. There are 1,100 boxes in Switzerland. There are 14,600 boxes worldwide. Enjoy my test report! Here the cigar is presented with even more interesting information.
The Difference - What's the difference?
Do you know the difference? Four Davidoff cigar lines are presented under The Difference.
The White Band is

The four lines are called White Band Collection. It is a timeless icon of sophistication and elegance. The difference to other cigars is, among other things, the strict quality control. In other words: When the white band closes around a cigar, it is the final act in a ritual of Caribbean passion and Swiss precision.
Cigars.Zone would like to help you understand this difference.

External impression before lighting
Format: Lancero (ring 40 / length 205 mm)
Price: Status April 2023 / CHF 29.00 / box of 10 CHF 290.00 / EUR still unknown
Recommended acclimatisation in the humidor with cellophane: 8 weeks
The colour and the cover sheet: dark brown and it looks great!
The construction and the cold draught: A little unevenly rolled (but the draw resistance is optimal) / The cold draw is super interesting: grassy, woody, sweetish!

Photo above: Close-up of the wrapper. It is a top wrapper leaf from Ecuador. The master agronomists at Oettinger Davidoff undertook 300 trials to create the special hybrid seed for the Ecuadorian wrapper leaf before they were satisfied. And it was worth it!

General impression after lighting in the first 5 minutes
Lighting and draw resistance: Lighting up is easy. The draw resistance is optimal.
The burn, the strength and the flavour: The burn in the first five minutes is even (please note the conclusion). The strength is 3/5 at the beginning and becomes a maximum of 4/5 in the course of the smoke.

Impression during the smoke
Aftertaste and aroma (scent of the smoke = room note)
First half: not quite intense and remains positive.
Second half somewhat more intense and remains positive.
Flavour on the tongue
First half: nutty, a little pepper, cocoa, slightly acidic
Second half: More nutty, a little pepper, a little spicy, cocoa, wood, acidic
Retronasal
First half: slightly spicy, somewhat acidic, nutty, lots of coffee beans and burning wood
Second half: Like the first half, but a lot more coffee beans and a lot more burning wood
ZiZo R+ Technology
First half: lots of nuts, some pepper, lots of coffee beans and lots of burning wood
Second half: Like the first half, but a little spicy and much, much, much, much more coffee beans! Very cool.
Course of enjoyment and conclusion
Pleasure course: It continues to develop steadily. The first half is perhaps a little linear, but that is criticism on a high level.
Conclusion: I was able to test three specimens as early as mid-March 2023. The ash is flaky and does not last long. Occasionally, the three specimens tended to glow unevenly; the flame helped (please be careful not to overheat this fantastic format). Apart from that, all three specimens glowed perfectly. I recommend an acclimatisation of at least 8 weeks after purchase. The cigar still needs some time as it has come to us from the tropics.
This is not a fault of the cigar, but this format simply needs some rest because of the journey.
I love this format!

Photo above: A look at this cover sheet.
It is very elegant and tastes excellent. At this point, a compliment to the courage of Oettinger Davidoff to launch a long and slim format on the market for the second time in a row! In February 2023, the Davidoff Signature No. 1 on the market, a Panetela Larga! And now comes the Lancero! Wow.
Why do I write that it takes courage? For one thing, because these formats require even slower smoking than you might wish; that's why the worldwide sales figures for these formats are not so high. Secondly, you need master rollers. A thin and long format is very difficult to roll in order to ensure optimum draw resistance and a „deep“ and flavourful taste.
Top!
I discovered a test report of mine from 2016, still with the so-called Millennium blend of the Davidoff Lancero. I found it boring back then.
But this new blend from 2023 and especially the new wrapper have made it a completely different cigar!
Buy it? Yes, preferably two crates. One to try soon and one to mature. Maturation potential, my estimate, about two years.
A cigar test is subjective. The flavour of a cigar is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the mood of the day, what you have eaten or drunk beforehand. Even the lighting in the room influences the flavour experience. The flavour nuances described here therefore do not necessarily correspond to your own impressions.
