External impression before lighting

Format: Perfecto (ring 52 / length 127 mm)

Recommended acclimatisation in the humidor with cellophane: 4 days

The colour and the cover sheet: light brown Connecticut / silky

The construction and the cold draught: evenly rolled (somewhat soft) / sweetish, woody

General impression after lighting in the first 5 minutes

Lighting and draw resistance: light / train: too light. MY mistake. The cigar is rolled a little soft. I cut it too much.

The burn, the strength and the flavour: Perfectly even / strength 3/5 / subtle, pleasant, full-bodied

Impression during the smoke

Aftertaste and aroma (scent of the smoke = room note)

First half: pleasant, lasting positive / Flavour: rich, spicy

Second half: pleasant, lasting positive / flavour: rich, spicy

Flavour on the tongue

First half: slightly peppery / a little cocoa / wood / slightly acidic

Second half: more pepper / more cocoa / spicy / coffee beans

Retronasal

First half: peppery / spicy / lots of coffee beans

Course of enjoyment and conclusion

Pleasure course: First half rather linear. Second half steady increase.

Conclusion: I love this format, a really nice Davidoff Aniversario Short Perfecto. Very classic. After lighting it burns inwards in a wedge shape in one or more places. This is not a fault of the cigar, but is due to the format. The tobacco is highly compressed at the foot of the cigar. For this reason, the cigar may glow unevenly at the beginning. As soon as the thickest part is reached, the burn corrects itself. The cigar then glows completely straight and evenly until the end.

A cigar test is subjective. The flavour of a cigar is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the mood of the day, what you have eaten or drunk beforehand.
