The starting signal: Aganorsa Leaf in Switzerland at the Urs Portmann Tabakwaren AG event.

The Swiss cigar world recently experienced a special highlight: the renowned Urs Portmann Tabakwaren AG proudly presented an exciting new product. At the idyllic Landgasthof Wartegg in Wigoltingen, they presented the latest cigars from Aganorsa Leaf - to the delight of the guests present.

Available in Switzerland from 24.09.24. At the event on 09.09.24, over 40 participants experienced the cigars. The aperitif cigar was the Aganorsa Leaf Anniversario Connecticut with a wrapper from Ecuador.

The spotlight at the event was on three premium products from the Aganorsa Leaf brand, which will soon be available in Switzerland: the Aniversario Connecticut, which Aniversario Corojo and the Aniversario Maduro. These cigars are produced in the coveted formats Gran Robusto and Toro and promise maximum enjoyment for cigar lovers. The import is organised by the Royal Cigar Company AG from Basel, which is how this exquisite selection found its way to Switzerland.

The first puffs are tested with excitement. How did the cigars taste at the event?

The presentation

The presentation itself was organised by Dominik Mezzomo who, as usual, impressed with his expertise. With a great deal of specialist knowledge and passion, he guided the audience through the variety of flavours of the new cigars, explained the special features of the blends and highlighted what makes Aganorsa Leaf cigars so distinctive. The guests not only had the opportunity to admire the cigars, but were also able to taste them in detail, while Mezzomo enriched each puff with exciting background information.

There was no shortage of culinary delights either: the Landgasthof Wartegg spoilt the guests with exquisite cuisine that was perfectly matched to the fine cigars. Fine food and exquisite drinks created a wonderful atmosphere that invited guests to socialise with like-minded people.

First course: Tataki of Thurgau summer bock, pear fennel salad & yuzu crème.

Second course: Homemade quark ravioli, lime butter foam.

We enjoyed the mild Aganorsa Leaf Anniversario Connecticut with the aperitif and the first two courses. I chose the Gran Robusto. There was also a Toro to choose from.

Before the third course, we had the Aganorsa Leaf Anniversario Corojo.

Here, too, I opted for the Gran Robusto. Of the three cigars I tasted, it was my favourite.

The third course: Swiss prime pork chop in one piece, red wine jus, creamy savoy cabbage, white polenta from Ticino.

The presentation of the ECLEA - Guayabera shirts was also very interesting. Emiliano Arena, the owner and inventor of this innovative Swiss product, impressively explained why his shirts do not take on the odour of tobacco or sweat even after being worn several times. This special feature makes the ECLEA Guayabera an ideal companion for cigar lovers who want to appear in style at events and in cigar lounges without having to worry about unpleasant odours.

Dominik Mezzomo from The Royal Cigar Company confirmed this extraordinary characteristic from his own experience: „I've travelled to a lot of cigar events and haven't washed my shirt for three months. It doesn't stink!“ This humorous yet convincing statement emphasised the quality of ECLEA shirts and caused amazement and enthusiasm among the guests.

The combination of stylish elegance and practical functionality made the ECLEA-Guayabera shirts another highlight of the evening, which perfectly matched the exclusive setting of the event.

The event was a complete success and once again emphasised why Urs Portmann Tabakwaren AG is one of the leading addresses for cigar events in Switzerland. The combination of first-class cigars, culinary delights and expert presentation made the evening an unforgettable experience.

For dessert, I chose the Gran Robusto again. This time the Aganorsa Leaf Anniversario Maduro. A full-bodied cigar with a lot of complexity. Dessert: raspberry sorbet & ragout, raspberry parfait, vanilla-rosemary foam.

To finish: Hinwiler Sennenfladen, Jersey blue from Toggenburg, Fribourger Vacherin. The next event will take place on 13 January 2025 in this location with Urs Tabakwaren AG.
