Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 Review. It was around 2006, I don't remember exactly. This cigar was my TOP favourite cigar at the time! I bought it every week in a small shop near the SBB railway station in Basel (which no longer exists). One day the shop assistant told me that the cigar had been discontinued. I asked her how many she had left? „Two pieces,“ was her reply. Of course I bought them. „Can you get more from somewhere else?“ I asked. „I'll try,“ she replied. A few days later she rang me: „I've got 11 more!“ - „Bought!“ was of course my reaction 😅 It has been available again since autumn 2023, but as a limited edition.

No degassing necessary

Firstly, an interesting note: I degas every cigar I test in the last third to see how long the flame is. With the Davidoff Aniversario No. 1, practically no flame comes out. This is a very good sign, because there are no gases in the cigar to make it bitter or spicy.

The flavour profile. I couldn't taste any citrus. The other nuances are definitely there.

The Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 is a double corona. A refined and aromatic pleasure for over two hours. Length: 22 cm, ring gauge 48 (1.9 cm diameter).

Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 Limited Edition Collection. Davidoff's brand history is rich in extraordinary innovations and iconic achievements. One of them was the Aniversario No. 1, which was created in 1986 to celebrate Zino Davidoff's 80th birthday. It has been available again since autumn 2023, albeit as a limited edition. If you want to enjoy this creation, you should hurry up and buy it. The box of 10 costs CHF 640.00.

For the review, I cut the cigar with the round cutter.

This is one of the most beautiful moments: when you take your first puff and perceive the flavour and aroma on the palate and retronasally.

After the first five minutes, I already suspected that this cigar would be a fantastic smoke.

The strength was very light (2/5), and I was intrigued by the wonderful flavour: extremely light peppery notes combined with subtle wood and nutty notes. Fantastic balance!

The ash didn't hold very well at first. It was a little flaky and fell off quickly. Later, the ash became more compact.

So really... I look very competent in this photo. 🤣🤪

Do you see? The ash is now holding very well.

The first half becomes more aromatic: a little more pepper, a little more wood and nut. Perhaps even some cedar. The strength remains at 2/5 and the cigar continues to develop during smoking.

The second half and the final

The cigar continues to develop during smoking. It is constantly gaining depth. Fantastic.

The finale is approaching: enjoyment to the end.
