The foundation stone for the West Tampa Tobacco Company was laid in 1953 when Rick Rodriguez's grandparents, both highly respected cigar rollers, followed the call of the USA. The Rodriguez family

The Rodríguez's made the USA their home and worked hard to support their family, never giving up their craft, even in difficult times. Their love of tobacco skipped a generation and came to new life in their beloved grandson, Rick. Growing up in West Tampa, in the shadow of once thriving cigar factories, taught Rick the value of hard work and this instilled in him courage and determination.

Rick could never get his grandparents' stories about Havana and Cuban cigars in their heyday out of his head. When he was offered the opportunity to work in the cigar business, Rick quickly jumped at the chance. He soon learnt from legends in the industry, especially Benji Menendez, who willingly passed on his knowledge to Rick. Decades later, Rick himself is known as a master cigar maker.

Always looking for new challenges, Rick took a bold step and founded the West Tampa Tobacco Company. His ambition is to produce the best handmade cigars that can be made with hard work, gratitude and a deep respect for tradition.

West Tampa White

The West Tampa White line is simple and very elegant. Each box is sealed with Rick's guarantee. The box and each cigar are a feast for the senses. The lid of the cigar box is classic, but also modern and tells the story of Rick's family and the journey he has taken to bring you the West Tampa Tobacco Company.

The large and bold wrapper encases a beautiful light pink wrapper leaf. Packed with a Nicaraguan filler, the West Tampa White explodes with flavour and a body that complements its rich and creamy profile.

West Tampa Black

In contrast to the West Tampa White line, the West Tampa Black line is just crying out to be admired. The stronger flavour of this cigar comes from the dark wrapper leaf, which has been perfectly fermented and stored. Thanks to the Condega Viso filler and the legendary Esteli Ligero, the West Tampa Black offers even more flavour and complexity than the West Tampa White. This line therefore delights the experienced aficionado and is a perfect addition to the West Tampa White for the humidor.
