What the report does not mention: 1) The men came in white and the ladies in red. 2) The event had to be moved from the outdoor area to the much smaller indoor area due to rain. The conditions for the 1,200 visitors to the event were correspondingly cramped. Personally, I think this was a pragmatic solution; finding a new location and redirecting the guests there was of course not possible. As a result, it was nice and cozy and the atmosphere among the participants was very good. I smoked the new Vitola Amantes in our casa particular that very night, and I really enjoyed it. A detailed tasting report will follow later when I am back in Switzerland. The service staff at the event deserve a lot of praise. They carried the used crockery through the tightest of spaces between the participants and were very careful not to break anything or spill anything on the participants. Bravo, that was no easy job! Habanos S.A. celebrates the XXV Festival del Habano with the 150th anniversary of Romeo y Julieta

The XXV Festival del Habano began with a spectacular opening night. The event honored the 150th anniversary of Romeo y Julieta. The exclusive Salón de Protocolo Cubanacán hosted 1,200 guests. Distributors, experts and aficionados from all over the world were in attendance. The theme of the evening was Venice with a romantic atmosphere. The color red dominated and reflected the passion of the brand.

World premiere of the Romeo y Julieta Amantes Vitola

The interior of the event was bathed in red light - fantastic and impressive.

The new Vitola Amantes has a ring gauge of 53 and a length of 153 mm. It was specially designed for the 150th anniversary. The Vitola combines tradition with excellent craftsmanship. It offers medium strength and the classic Romeo y Julieta aroma. It is ideal for experienced aficionados and newcomers alike.

Presentation

The DJ (or is it THE "DJ"?) moved rhythmically and charmingly to the fantastic lounge music.

Vice President Jorge Pérez Martel presented two formats. The elegant box of 20 is ideal for collectors and aficionados. An exclusive box of 5 was sold in advance for festival guests. The co-presidents Maritza Carrillo González and Luis Sánchez-Harguindey gave a speech. They thanked aficionados, distributors and professionals for their loyalty.

Announcement of the Habanos Awards 2024

The Habanos Awards honor leading personalities in the industry. The nominees in the Business category are Alain Proietto, Sami Alrayhani and Luca Borla. The nominees in the Communication category are José Andrés Colmena, Aleksandar Spitic and Alexandre Groom. The nominees in the Production category are Reynier Lázaro Rojas Medina, Roberto Sánchez Esquivel and Linnel Marrero Turiño. The winners will be announced at the gala night.

Music and art accompanied the celebrations

The event offered an extraordinary entertainment program. There were performances by Trío Tradicional Feeling, Rakatán and Yarima Blanco. The legendary Orquesta Aragón delighted the audience.
