Review SAKA Overseas No. 1 Limited Edition
Review SAKA Overseas No. 1: Sometimes you come across a cigar that causes mixed feelings right from the start - at least on paper. That's what happened to me with the SAKA Overseas No. 1 Limited Edition. When I read the tobacco blend, a thought popped into my head: "Oh no, Pennsylvania..." But then I remembered what I always preach to myself: stay objective, let the cigar do the talking. So that's what I did. And how good that I gave it this fair chance! I tested three of them and here are my results. SPOILER ALERT: buy, buy!!! Only 200 boxes for Switzerland!

The first masterpiece in March
In March 2025, the SAKA Sin Compromiso - Steve Saka's masterpiece and uncompromising line - appeared on the Swiss market. The noble cigar, which was designed to meet the demand for uncompromising quality, is a discovery for aficionados in search of rare boutique cigars. 👉 Here is my review
The tobacco blend - a bold composition

The color is deceptive in the photo. The wrapper is a very nice medium brown, no, rather a slightly lighter dark brown.
The SAKA Overseas No. 1 brings a highly interesting tobacco blend with it:
- Wrapper: Ecuador
- Binder: San Andrés Negro (Mexico)
- Insert: Pennsylvania Seedleaf & Nicaragua

The curly tail on the head is neatly finished.
The selection is anything but ordinary. The Pennsylvania seedleaf content in particular causes many aficionados to frown at first. This tobacco is known for its depth and strength - but also for its unconventionality. But don't worry: it works surprisingly well in this composition.

Let the enjoyment begin!
Boutique enjoyment with rarity value

A nice detail: On the back of the SAKA Overseas No. 1 you can see the No. 1. ...what kind of set is that...
The SAKA Overseas No. 1 is Steve Saka's latest creation and was especially for the international market created. Why? Quite simply because Saka's boutique cigars are mainly available in the USA due to the distribution structure. Aficionados outside the United States - especially in Switzerland - have often been left out in the cold.

Sometimes it glows wavy; this usually corrects itself. I rarely had to use the flame.
This changes with Overseas No. 1. It is aimed specifically at connoisseurs outside North America, who should finally be able to enjoy Saka's handwriting. And how limited is the whole thing? Extremely! Only 200 crates have ever found their way to Switzerland. This makes it not only an exclusive smoking pleasure, but also a rare collector's item.
But let's be honest - collecting? Cigars are there to be smoked! (Or is there really anyone out there who puts such a cigar in the humidor and never touches it? 😅) Is there anyone out there who collects any cigars at all? 😉

It glows well and evenly.
The Vitola - a modern classic
The cigar comes as a classic 6×50 Toro. It sits wonderfully in the hand, the cold smell promises depth and spice. It reveals its character as soon as you light it: strong, but not coarse. The first phase delivers a Intense spice kickthat shakes you up - but don't worry, the whole thing always remains elegant.

The ash is compact and stable. But you should still see my pants and T-shirt: Full of ash stains. That's just because I always exaggerate and think: "The ash is still holding, just one more puff and then I'll burn..." and the cigar replies: "Nope, fuck you!" 😁
Flavor profile - a balanced force
The SAKA Overseas No. 1 is a Full-body cigarwho is very aware of her power. But she doesn't boast, she leads:
- Dark chocolatedark, creamy, with a slightly bitter undertone
- EspressoBlack, concentrated, aromatic
- Wood: dry, noble
- Pepperpresent, but not spicy - rather an interplay of flavors
The smoke is dense, oily and lingers on the tongue for a long time. The finish is sweet and spicy - a perfect conclusion to a sophisticated composition.
Who is Overseas No. 1 intended for?
One thing is clear: this cigar is Nothing for beginners. Those who prefer mild or playful flavors should be careful here. The SAKA Overseas No. 1 is aimed at experienced aficionados who like strong blends, but still want to enjoy Elegance and balance appreciate.
It is a cigar for the moment when you take your time. Not a pleasure to be enjoyed on the side - but a conscious decision for character, depth and precision craftsmanship.

Great cigar with rough edges. I like that!
Conclusion: Steve Saka's international statement
The SAKA Overseas No. 1 Limited Edition is a statement of quality, exclusivity and character. With only 200 cases in Switzerland, it is a rare find for connoisseurs - and a pleasure that cannot be compared with any other blend from Saka.
Steve Saka shows once again that boutique cigars are not just a trend, but a commitment to craftsmanship. The Overseas No. 1 is a gift to international aficionados who have not yet been able to enjoy his creations. And this gift should not be wrapped up and locked away - it should be unwrapped, lit and enjoyed.
My tip: If you can get hold of one - don't hesitate. But please, please: Do not collect. Smoke!
