The Gold Label is manufactured in Rocky Patel's own factory. TAVICUSA (Tabacalera Villa Cuba S.A.) in Estelí, Nicaragua - a place where craftsmanship and passion for tobacco are not just empty words.

Their blend is unusual and refined: Two wrappers - Connecticut Broadleaf and Connecticut Shade - are united under an oily-silky Ecuador cover sheet. The filler contains strong tobaccos from Estelí and Jalapa, two regions that stand for intense flavour and complex depth.

Does that sound powerful? It is!

Mmmm... aaaah... chocolate!

The start is spicy and present: earthy notes, a touch black pepper, and a basic tone of toasted bread - like fresh from the wood-fired oven.

The cigar develops further with every puff: Coffee, leather, caramel and nuts appear as if they wanted to prove that gold can not only shine, but also taste good. And then - all of a sudden - this Citrus twist. Very discreet. Almost fleeting.

Interesting: two of the three samples had this fresh flavour, but the third did not. And no, I hadn't eaten an orange before. Maybe it was just... magic? Or tobacco chemistry. Who knows.

Construction & combustion - as solid as clockwork

The box-pressing not only ensures elegance, but also a pleasantly controlled draw. The burn is clean, the ash firm. No tunnel, no crooked burn - instead a quiet glow and creamy smoke, that is rich and evenly pervasive. That's exactly how it should be.

Who is this cigar made for?

Happened with one specimen at the beginning, without disturbing the flavour: The ash broke open. It didn't happen again after the ash was removed.

For beginners with a thirst for adventure - and for connoisseurs who don't already know everything.
It offers depth, development, a pleasant nicotine boost and is still accessible. Strength: medium to strong, with character, but without arrogance.

Conclusion - Not a dazzler. A statement.

The Rocky Patel Gold Label is more than just a pretty face. She is a statement of taste, style and substance. It offers a flavourful journey with curves, but without potholes - and it proves it: Sometimes all that glitters is gold.
