Format
The "La Gloria Cubana Glorias", is a 49 x 156 mm Parejo vitola, is called "Flechas" (a new format in Habanos' portfolio) and is made "Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga" - Totally Handmade with Long Filler - with wrapper, filler and binder from the Vuelta Abajo* zone, in the Pinar del Río* region, Cuba*, and made by experienced Cuban cigar rollers.
La Gloria Cubana Glorias: Interesting History
"La Gloria Cubana" - in German "Der Ruhm Cubas" - is the almost spectacular-sounding name of a Habanos brand that is less well-known today, however. However, this was not always the case. The history of the brand, founded in 1885, is closely linked to that of the incomparably more famous brand Partagás, which comes from the same manufacture.
La Gloria Cubana was a luxury brand from the beginning, which is evident from the still existing lithographs, which were elaborately worked with gold foil. Even today, a unique format is offered by La Gloria Cubana in the standard range of Habanos - the almost incomparably elegant and slender "No.4" of the legendary series "Medaille d'Or".
Discerning Habanos connoisseurs therefore always had this brand in mind, to which some of the most interesting regional editions and limited products were dedicated. Already in 2010, exclusively for the stores of the worldwide franchise network "La Casa del Habano", the La Gloria Cubana Inmensos in Sublime format (164 mm x ring gauge 54) came on the market.
The tobacco blend of this large-volume cigar was terrific and many connoisseurs were enthusiastic about this extraordinarily strong Habano. Today, it is one of the most sought-after rarities among habanophile collectors.
Also 5THAvenue, Official Habanos Importer for Germany, Austria and Poland, chose the brand in 2015 for a regional edition: the La Gloria Cubana Glorias in the gigantic torpedo format "Rodolfo" with a length of 180 mm and a ring gauge of 54. A total of 6,000 individually numbered boxes, each containing 10 pieces, were sold out in no time and underlined the fame of the brand.
Habanos S.A. now brings a La Gloria Cubana Gloria on the market again. However, it has a newly developed Parejo format called "Flechas" (Vitola de Galera), with a large ring gauge of 49 and a length of 156 mm. The retail name (Vitola de Salida) is also "Glorias". Incidentally, both names, "Flechas" and "Glorias", designated historical formats of the brand in the 1970s.
The new "Glorias" are offered in highly elaborate boxes painted in white and blue, exclusively by the stores of the franchise network La Casa del Habano. A second ring with the Casa logo indicates this. The boxes are in a blue velvet sleeve and cardboard outer packaging for protection. They each contain 20 pieces of these wonderful cigars.
The completely hand-rolled long filler comes from a selection of the finest tobaccos from the Pinar del Rio growing region. Particularly experienced experts among the Partagás manufacture rollers are responsible for their production.
The La Gloria Cubana Glorias are now to permanently complement the exclusive range of La Casas del Habano.
