Feria del Tabaco 24: Two years of Silencio in Switzerland - What makes the brand so special
Silencio! I'm at the Oettinger Davidoff stand at MANUEL'S Feria del Tabaco today, and standing next to me is Patrick Roth, the man who is going to introduce us to the Silencio brand. I immediately notice the logo: A big „O“ with a red dot in it. Wait a minute, that looks familiar somehow. Some special Cuban cigar brand, isn't it?» I feign deliberate ignorance.

A unique in-house exhibition in Zurich: MANUEL'S brings cigar importers and aficionados together for two enjoyable days at its Feria del Tabaco.
MANUEL'S Feria del Tabaco in Zurich invites cigar lovers to discover the world of cigars at an exclusive in-house exhibition. Numerous cigar importers present their treasures over two days - an event that takes place directly after InterTabac every year.
The secrets of the Silencio: One cigar, two continents
Patrick laughs and nods. „That's right, the O with the red dot is mainly familiar to aficionados from the USA. Silencio is known there under the name Cohiba. But this is not a Cuban Cohiba as we know it in Switzerland. In the USA, it is a Dominican cigar, and the name Cohiba is not protected there as it is here. That's why the cigar is called Silencio in Europe, while the brand identity - the famous logo with the red dot - remains the same.“

Patrick Roth.
That is quite something. So Silencio stands for a world of cigars that are conquering both the US market and Europe, while still retaining their own identity. Now I'm curious. I ask Patrick: „What can you tell us about the Silencio Black?“
Silencio Black: The choice for experienced aficionados
Patrick beams. „The Black is the second line we've launched. The first was the Red with the familiar red dot. The Silencio Black is aimed more at experienced aficionados. It is stronger, full-bodied and available in different vitolas. It is a line for those who are looking for a little more intensity in their cigar. We launched the Black around six months after the Red - as a more sophisticated option.“

I nod, impressed. „So, if I understand correctly, the Silencio Black is more for experienced smokers, while the Red is a good starter cigar. What else would you like to tell our readers and aficionados?“
Patrick thinks for a moment and then answers with a smile: „We've had Silencio in Switzerland for about two and a half years now, and the portfolio will continue to grow. We are planning new lines and limited editions. Silencio will definitely remain in focus, and the price-performance ratio is really top. For 15 to 18 francs, you get a robusto that is absolutely convincing.»

Silencio: The right choice for every aficionado
Thank you Patrick for the interesting interview. It's fascinating to see how the world of cigars is evolving, and Silencio definitely seems to be a brand to keep an eye on. For aficionados looking for that certain something, the Silencio Black is a must - and for those just starting out in the world of cigars, the Red is the perfect introduction.
