Davidoff The Difference. Davidoff Cigars unveils its «The Difference» campaign 2023 and brings back the once popular Classic No. 1 as a new limited edition. The master blenders have brought the blend back to life in its thin and long panetela larga format with the pigtail cap. Tip: Make sure you watch the short video clips. Do you know the difference? Four Davidoff cigar lines are presented under The Difference.

The four lines are called White Band Collection. It is a timeless icon of sophistication and elegance. The difference to other cigars is, among other things, the strict quality control. In other words: When the white band closes around a cigar, it is the final act in a ritual of Caribbean passion and Swiss precision.

Basel, Switzerland, January 2023. To present its loyal aficionados with interesting and surprising information about its unique cigar production process, Davidoff Cigars launches its «The Difference» campaign. It focuses on the highly acclaimed Davidoff White Band Collection lines Signature, Grand Cru, Aniversario and Millennium and offers fascinating behind-the-scenes insights into Davidoff's exceptional endeavours and highest quality standards in cigar production. To kick things off, the brand is launching a limited edition of its past favourite Davidoff Classic No. 1 cigar: the Davidoff Signature No. 1 Limited Edition Collection.

The foundation stone

The foundation stone for what characterises the brand today was laid over a century ago by the Davidoff family, who had to take a different path in life than planned and found refuge in Switzerland. The success story began with the opening of the first Davidoff store in Geneva. The shop, which soon became an institution and a real meeting place for aficionados from near and far, paved Zino Davidoff's way into the world of premium cigars. To kick off the major campaign for the unique Davidoff White Band Collection cigar lines with a bang, Davidoff is reissuing one of its most iconic and popular cigars as a limited edition. Originally known as Davidoff Classic No. 1, the master blenders have brought the blend we know today as Signature back to life in its thin and long panetela larga format with the pigtail cap.

Davidoff wants to surprise its loyal aficionados and collectors with a cigar that they have been waiting more than half a century to see return. The Limited Edition is exemplary of the extra mile that Davidoff has been going for years in production: a sufficiently large inventory, highly trained master blenders and rollers with years of experience came together to revive the unique cigar enjoyment of many years ago. Because time is the most valuable ingredient in Davidoff cigars. This is all the more true in the case of the temporary return of the Davidoff Signature No. 1.

Due to its length and relatively small ring gauge, the typical signature flavours of the Limited Edition are somewhat more intense. At the beginning of this elegant masterpiece, flavours of barley and roasted wheat underline subtle notes of earth. As the cigar progresses, mild notes of cream and brown sugar take over and complement floral spice. In the final third, gentle flavours of cedar and dried fruit join notes of pepper. The earthy, woody notes with the floral flavours of Signature No. 1 create a clean and creamy finish.

Davidoff White Band Collection - The icons of refinement and sophistication

The Davidoff White Band Collection is made up of the four lines Signature, Grand Cru, Aniversario and Millennium. The special feature is that they are all blended from the same three main Dominican tobaccos Olor, San Vicente and Piloto, which were picked at different leaf stages and are found in different proportions in the blend.

Davidoff Signature - creamy & elegant

Signature stands out in the world of cigars. Every 30 seconds, an aficionado somewhere in the world savours a Davidoff Signature 2000. Another special cigar is the Signature Exquisitos, the smallest handmade long-filler cigar in the world.

Signature is largely composed of Volado tobaccos, which give the blend its smooth flavours and mild intensity. For each of the iconic formats, the Davidoff master blenders have rebalanced and adapted the blend. This makes Signature ideal for cigar novices and those in the mood for a mild, refined cigar.

ZiZo noteVolado are the lower tobacco leaves of the plant. They receive less sunlight and have a mild flavour.

Davidoff Grand Cru - cultivated & aromatic

Zino Davidoff's wine-cigar analogy from 1946 drew parallels between the production of wine and that of cigars. This inspired the creation of an entire line.

Grand Cru is a blend composed of three filler tobaccos, just as a Bordeaux wine consists of at least three grape varieties. The Davidoff master blenders used mainly Seco tobacco for Grand Cru to create a deep, multi-layered aromatic flavour. The line offers a range of different formats and ring gauge that are ideal for beginners and aficionados who want a cultivated flavour experience.

ZiZo note: Seco are the middle tobacco leaves of the plant. They receive more sunlight and have a complex flavour.

Davidoff Aniversario - versatile & complex

Aniversario was launched in 1986 to mark Zino Davidoff's 80th birthday and is therefore the ideal cigar for any celebration. The line shines with some special formats such as the Figurados Special «T» and Short Perfecto. Special «T» has a patented format that is unique to the brand and offers different flavours depending on the cut. Created mainly from Visus tobaccos, Aniversario is the perfect medium-bodied cigar to make the most of special times.

ZiZo note: Visus are the tobacco leaves of the plant that are almost at the top. They get plenty of sunlight and have a medium-strong flavour.

Davidoff Millennium - intense & refined

The Davidoff Master Blenders worked tirelessly to develop the seed that would grow into the wrapper leaf of the Millennium blend. After 300 trials, they were satisfied with the Hybrid 151, which now grows under special conditions in Ecuador.

The work has paid off: the unmistakable flavour of the wrapper makes Millennium the complex but refined blend that it is. It consists mainly of Ligero and Visus tobaccos and offers the most intense flavour of the entire White Band Collection. Millennium is ideal for aficionados who appreciate rich notes of oily tobaccos.

ZiZo note: Ligero are the tobacco leaves of the plant that are at the very top. They get the most sunlight and have an intense and strong flavour.
