Davidoff is expanding its range in the global duty-free market with the «Primeros by Davidoff Voyager’s Selection». This Petit Panetela-format selection brings together three existing product lines in a metal tin and is aimed at cigar smokers with limited time.

The launch in Global Travel Retail is scheduled for 3 September 2026. Launch dates and availability may vary by country.

What's new?

The cigars themselves, as well as their sizes, are not new to the manufacturer’s range. What is new is the distribution concept and the way they have been put together as an assortment for the travel sector. Until now, the Primeros ranges have mainly been sold separately in tins of ten in specialist shops. The Voyager’s Selection now brings together three different blends – two Dominican, two Dominican Maduro and two Nicaraguan – in a single pack of six.

Why is this interesting?

The Petit Panetela, with a ring gauge of 34 and a length of 10.5 cm, is designed to be smoked in a short session of around 15 to 25 minutes. For cigar smokers travelling, this selection offers the chance to try out different tobacco blends and strengths without having to buy several full packs.

Physically speaking, a small ring gauge of 34 combined with a short length results in a rapid burn rate. Compared to larger-volume formats such as a Robusto or Toro, the ratio between the wrapper and the filler shifts significantly in favour of the wrapper. As a result, in slender formats such as the Petit Panetela, the wrapper and binder have a proportionally greater influence on the burn characteristics and the overall impression than they do in thicker cigars.

The metal packaging protects the tobacco from physical damage and drying out whilst on the move for short periods, but is no substitute for humidor-controlled storage on longer journeys.
