The design of the line combines traditional Chinese patterns with Mayan hieroglyphics. Similar to the Chinese, the animal world of the ancient Maya plays an important role in their spiritual beliefs, symbolism and iconography. The Maya believe that we are all born with a "NAHAUL" or animal spirit to guide us through life. Each of Maya Selva Cigars' special editions is decorated with a design that combines traditional Chinese patterns and Mayan hieroglyphics.
The latest limited edition celebrates " 18 Conejo "Uaxaclajuun Ub'aah K'awiil), the 13th ruler of Copan. Due to the number of buildings and monuments erected during his reign, he is considered the greatest patron of the arts in the history of Copan.
