Feria del Tabaco 24: Aladino and Burlesque - Two irresistible seductions

It's a day full of smoke, enjoyment and discoveries at the Feria del Tabaco 2024 at MANUEL'S in Zurich. Between the intense aromas and the buzzing hustle and bustle of cigar lovers, my gaze falls on an old acquaintance - Carlos Andrés, the Managing Director of Cigarmundi. His stand is surrounded by curious people eagerly awaiting the latest treasures from his range. Of course, I can't resist and head straight for him.

A unique in-house exhibition in Zurich: MANUEL'S brings cigar importers and aficionados together for two enjoyable days at its Feria del Tabaco.

MANUEL'S Feria del Tabaco in Zurich invites cigar lovers to discover the world of cigars at an exclusive in-house exhibition. Numerous cigar importers present their treasures over two days - an event that takes place directly after InterTabac every year.

"Hello Vasilij!", Carlos greets me with a winning smile. You can tell straight away that this is someone who not only sells cigars, but lives them. "So, what have you got for me?" I ask with a grin, knowing that Carlos always has a surprise up his sleeve. He leans slightly towards me, as if he wants to reveal a secret, and says: "Two exciting stories!" His eyes sparkle with excitement.

Aladino: The hidden pearl from Honduras

"Firstly, we have Aladino. This is a real gem from Honduras, made by the Eiroa family, who have been in the cigar world since the 1960s. A brand made with so much know-how and love, simply great." He reaches for an Aladino Classic Robusto and holds it out to me. "Look at this - a 100% Honduran puro. Medium-bodied, so beautifully creamy that you won't want to put it down."

While I admire the body of the cigar, he continues: "Aladino is already a big hit in the USA, but in Switzerland it's still almost a well-kept secret." His voice is full of conviction. I can almost feel the rich, full-bodied smoke on my tongue as he continues: "And the price? For 14 francs, you get a smoking experience that will delight you all round."

Burlesque: The seductive cigar from Nicaragua

But Carlos wouldn't be Carlos if he didn't have another trump card up his sleeve. "And then," he becomes even quieter and more mysterious, "we have burlesque. A creation by El Viejo Continente - provocative, sensual and yet so incredibly elegant."

He describes burlesque with a passion that literally crackles in the air: "The box is a work of art in itself, decorated with an illustration of a burlesque dancer and a sensual garter - this is burlesque that seduces with style, not clumsily, but in a sophisticated way."

You talked about it then - that was about two years ago, wasn't it?" Carlos smiles. "Yes, exactly! Sometimes it takes time from the idea to the final creation. But now it's here, the burlesque!"
