Short and sweet: The clip

Review Cohiba Wide Short

The cigarillo is ideal for a short but impressive break.

What is the Cohiba Wide Short?

The Wide Short comes in an unusually wide format for cigarillos: 100 mm long with a diameter of 12.5 mm. This means more smoking time, more aroma - and more Cohiba on the go. Despite being machine-made, it remains true to its Cuban roots: the filler, binder and wrapper come entirely from Cuba. It is a so-called "short filler", also known as mechanically manufactured ("mecanizado").

Tasting notes: Creamy, spicy, Cuban

I tested three of these cigarillos to give you an informed opinion. Here is an overview of my taste impressions:

  • Start: Very creamy smoke, surprisingly soft on entry
  • Center: Earthy notes, accompanied by a pleasant woody warmth
  • Seasoning: A subtle pepper note provides balance
  • Character: It becomes noticeably peppier towards the middle - almost "bitchy"
  • Final: Full-bodied, with a slightly sweet, earthy finish

This little Cuban clearly has character. Anyone expecting a machine-made cigarillo to taste flat will be pleasantly surprised.

Storage tip for connoisseurs

An insider tip from my humidor: store the Cohiba Wide Shorts a few months at optimum humidity (69-72 %) - their flavour harmonizes even further. The creaminess increases, the peppery notes become softer. Storage is definitely worthwhile, as I have experienced myself.

Burning: Above average

For a machine-made product, the Wide Short burns surprisingly cleanly. Only occasionally does a slight wedge burn - but this usually corrects itself. No comparison to cheap cigarillos, which often require annoying corrections.

Who is the Cohiba Wide Short for?

  • For habitual smokers: An aromatic companion in everyday life
  • For the curious: The ideal starter cigarillo with genuine Cuban character
  • For those in a hurry: Perfect for a short break in between
  • For connoisseurs: Surprisingly full-bodied despite the small format

Conclusion - My verdict in the Cohiba Wide Short Review

The Cohiba Wide Short is a successful addition to the cigarillo segment. It combines comfort, taste and Cuban elegance in a handy format. Anyone looking for a quick, yet aromatically sophisticated smoking moment should definitely try this new variant.
