After the first photo below, you can read the official press release from Habanos S.A.. But what the report doesn't mention: 1) The men came in white and the ladies in red. 2) The event had to be moved from the outdoor area to the much smaller indoor area due to rain. The conditions for the 1,200 visitors to the event were correspondingly cramped. Personally, I think this was a pragmatic solution; finding a new location and redirecting the guests there was of course not possible. As a result, it was nice and cosy and the atmosphere among the participants was very good. I smoked the new Vitola Amantes in our casa particular that very night, and I really enjoyed it. A detailed tasting report will follow later when I am back in Switzerland. The service staff at the event deserve a lot of praise. They carried the used crockery through the tightest of spaces between the participants and were very careful to ensure that nothing was broken or spilt on the participants. The XXV Festival del Habano began with a spectacular opening night. The event honoured the 150th anniversary of Romeo y Julieta. The exclusive Sal\u00f3n de Protocolo Cubanac\u00e1n hosted 1,200 guests. Distributors, experts and aficionados from all over the world were in attendance. The theme of the evening was Venice with a romantic atmosphere. The colour red dominated and reflected the passion of the brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Vitola Amantes has a ring gauge of 53 and a length of 153 mm. It was specially designed for the 150th anniversary. The Vitola combines tradition with excellent craftsmanship. Vice President Jorge P\u00e9rez Martel presented two formats. The elegant box of 20 is ideal for collectors and aficionados. An exclusive box of 5 was sold in advance for festival guests. The co-presidents Maritza Carrillo Gonz\u00e1lez and Luis S\u00e1nchez-Harguindey gave a speech. They thanked aficionados, distributors and professionals for their loyalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announcement of the Habanos Awards 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Habanos Awards honour leading personalities in the industry. The nominees in the Business category are Alain Proietto, Sami Alrayhani and Luca Borla. The nominees in the Communication category are Jos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s Colmena, Aleksandar Spitic and Alexandre Groom. The nominees in the Production category are Reynier L\u00e1zaro Rojas Medina, Roberto S\u00e1nchez Esquivel and Linnel Marrero Turi\u00f1o. The winners will be announced at the gala night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music and art accompanied the celebrations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The event offered an exceptional entertainment programme. There were performances by Tr\u00edo Tradicional Feeling, Rakat\u00e1n and Yarima Blanco. The legendary Orquesta Arag\u00f3n thrilled the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
