They often experience a real \u201eclimate shock\u201c during transport from the tropics. They are transported refrigerated and frozen either by the manufacturer on site or later by the importer to combat tobacco beetle larvae. These processes put considerable strain on the tobacco. After arrival, cigars therefore need time to adapt to the conditions in the importer's warehouse and later in the humidor at home. This resting phase is crucial for the tobacco to stabilise again and develop its full aroma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-akklimatisierung-vor-perfektion-geschichten-hinter-erfolgreichen-zigarrenlancierungen\">Acclimatisation before perfection: stories behind successful cigar launches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A few years ago, DAVIDOFF launched a new line. Marketing had already started and retailers were informed about when they would receive the cigars. However, shortly before the launch, DAVIDOFF decided to postpone the start of sales by a few weeks. During a trial smoke, the experts realised that the cigars needed to be acclimatised a little longer to develop their full potential. Gilbert de Montsalvat, who also delayed the start of sales of a new line to ensure that the cigars had reached the desired maturity, is known to have adopted a similar approach. This approach shows how important patience and perfection are in the cigar trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zigarren.zone\/de\/warum-die-despacito-toro-grande-begeistert\/\">A good example is this tasting report from Despacito Nicaragua<\/a>; this cigar had to acclimatise for a few weeks before it tasted \u201eround\u201c. In my tasting reports, I always point out whether and for how long the cigars should be acclimatised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-das-streitthema-muss-es-immer-ein-humidor-aus-holz-sein\">The contentious issue: does it always have to be a wooden humidor?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A classic wooden humidor is the most popular storage method, but there are alternatives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Plastic boxes \/ aluminium boxes:<\/strong> A method in which you use an airtight plastic or aluminium box with a humidification element. Simple but effective.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Refrigerated humidor:<\/strong> For those who want to control temperature and humidity at the same time. But be careful! Condensation can form, which is bad and the humidor can become far too humid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cabinet humidor:<\/strong> Ideal for collectors who want to store a large number of cigars. Or who like to show off - no, fun \ud83d\ude05<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The most important thing:<\/strong> There is no \u201e100% right\u201c way - as long as your cigars are stored optimally, anything goes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-das-streitthema-trennung-von-zigarren\">The topic of dispute: separating cigars<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Another point that often leads to discussions is the question of whether cigars from different brands or regions should be stored together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Per separation:<\/strong> Some aficionados argue that cigars in a shared humidor can exchange flavours. I cannot confirm this from experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contra separation:<\/strong> Others say that this effect is only noticeable with long storage times and is hardly relevant with good packaging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>My recommendation:<\/strong> You should always store the cigars in the humidor in cellophane (or in original boxes), otherwise they will lose a lot of flavour within a few days\/weeks. Cigars without cellophane should be placed in an aluminium tubo or packed in Zippo bags; only Cuban cigars need a slightly different type of storage. This will be covered in part 3 of this theme week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flavoured cigars (yes, that crap really exists), however, must be stored separately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wie-sich-die-lagerung-auf-den-geschmack-auswirkt\">How storage affects the flavour<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many smokers realise whether a cigar has been stored correctly when they enjoy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cigars that are too dry:<\/strong> Burn faster and lose flavour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cigars that are too moist<\/strong>: Pull heavier and often develop a musty flavour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Well stored cigars:<\/strong> Develop complex flavours, burn evenly and offer the perfect draw resistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-fazit-von-teil-2\">Conclusion of part 2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Storing cigars is not rocket science - and it doesn't have to be complicated.
