It is also often translated as \u201estrong\u201c, but I think that is wrong. The format developed mainly in the 1980s, when cigars were supposed to become more compact and at the same time more intense in flavour. This format already existed before that, but less so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trend has moved away from large and slim formats towards shorter cigars that are packaged in a <strong>full enjoyment for a shorter time<\/strong> offer. But the manufacturers recognised another thing: a slim format, such as the Lancero or Panetela, is more difficult to roll. Personally, I prefer the Robusto format of a cigar line for tastings. It offers a \u201ecompact\u201c flavour. When I test the same blend of the same cigar line, but in different formats, it is often the Robusto that tastes best to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The ring gauge as a game changer<\/strong>The larger ring gauge (48-52) allows for a cooler combustion and the <strong>Fuller development of flavours<\/strong>. So they say. But I don't know whether this is scientifically proven. \ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Influence on cigar production<\/strong>: Many manufacturers have perfected the Robusto format and have made it into a <strong>\u201eBusiness card\u201c of your brand<\/strong> established.
