HR Cigars by Hiroshi Robaina. Who is behind it? You read that right. He has launched his own cigar brand outside of Cuba. The cigars are already very popular, especially in the USA, and are finding their way all over the world. The exclusive importer in Switzerland is Urs Portmann Tabakwaren AG, Kreuzlingen. I tested three formats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cigar test is subjective<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Note: How a cigar tastes is influenced by personal taste preferences, taste memories, the form of the day, what you have eaten or drunk beforehand. Even the lighting in the room has an influence on the flavour you experience. The notes described here therefore do not necessarily correspond to your own impressions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three lines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Three lines are available in Switzerland. The tobacco: The wrapper comes from Ecuador, the binder and filler from Nicaragua. According to the manufacturer, they are produced in Nicaragua at the La Corona Cigars S.A. cigar factory. The master roller Omar Gonz\u00e1lez is also on board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I tested the three lines in different formats. The result: excellent! Of course, I tested the three formats on different days, always at the same time at 08:00, sober.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The lightest line is the HR White by Hirochi Robaina:<\/strong> 109 Double Corona (CHF 290.00, box of 20) \/ Toro (CHF 290.00, box of 20) \/ Robusto Gordo (CHF 290.00, box of 20) \/ White Rothschild Robusto (CHF 220.00, box of 20).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The line is medium-strong HR Signature by Hiroshi<\/strong> Robaina<\/strong>Belicoso (CHF 290.00, box of 20) \/ Corona (CHF 240.00, box of 16 -> the only one with a 16 unit) \/ Hermoso (CHF 290.00, box of 20) \/ Sublime (CHF 290.00, box of 20) \/ Toro (CHF 290.00, box of 20).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strongest line is the HR Blue by Hiroshi Robaina:<\/strong> Corona Gordo (CHF 220.00, box of 20) \/ Gordo (CHF 260.00, box of 20) \/ Petit Edmundo (CHF 220.00, box of 20) \/ Toro (CHF 260.00, box of 20).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

White Line Double Corona: Strength 2\/5 and a little stronger towards the end \/ subtle light wood, floral (very slightly sweet, but very light!) \/ Retronasal: Pronounced wood and ...uh... floral notes (who knows how I came up with that) \/ R+ technique: Slightly peppery, slightly woody, somehow \u201efresh\u201c earth \/ Draw resistance: Optimal \/ Smoulders slowly and straight<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Signature Line Belicoso: Strength 3\/5 and towards the end 4\/5 \/ earth, dark wood, slightly salty on the lips, some pepper \/ Retronasal: Strong leather notes, a lot of pepper \/ R+ Technique: Very strong leather notes and a lot of coffee beans (not espresso) \/ Draw resistance: Optimal \/ Smokes slowly and straight (occasionally a little crooked burn, which I had to correct with the flame).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Blue Line Petit Edmundo: Strength 4\/5 \/ Lots of nut, lots of wood, leather, very spicy \/ Retronasal: Strong roasted aromas of wood, very spicy \/ R+ Technique: Very strong roasted aromas of burning wood and strong espresso beans, lots of dark pepper \/ Draw resistance: Optimal \/ Glows slowly and straight.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
