VILLIGER MIAMI LAGUITO NO. 1: Who doesn't remember one of the most popular US cult series of the 1980s - MIAMI VICE? It was produced in the Dominican Republic with a light-coloured Ecuadorian Desflorado wrapper. The composition of the filler and the origin of the wrapper leaf remain secret.

Miami Vice TV series from the 1980s

This series was regarded as trend- and style-setting in terms of both the set design and the cinematic realisation of the scripts. Hard cuts and fast image sequences, sequences in slow motion and overlong shots of faces; pastel-coloured lighting and backdrops or scenes brightly lit with cold neon light were often reminiscent of the music channel video clips of the time.

MIAMI VICE had a major influence on the development of men's fashion in the second half of the 1980s and characterised the „white T-shirt under Armani jacket“ style. Both main characters were dressed in pastel-coloured jackets, leather loafers without socks and luxury Italian sports cars. The story of the new limited edition VILLIGER MIAMI LAGUITO No.1 brand also began in Miami. More precisely, at Villiger Cigars North America, which also has its headquarters in Miami, in the US state of Florida.

First the USA and now Germany and Switzerland

VILLIGER's Dominican supplier had developed a new product, which was presented to visitors as a kind of „house cigar“. After receiving numerous requests to buy this cigar, the company decided to have it produced for sale. The small edition of just 500 boxes of 10 cigars sold out in the USA in no time at all. The well-known US magazine CIGAR SNOB awarded this cigar an impressive 92 rating points.

This success triggered the company's interest in this product for the German and Swiss markets, and VILLIGER Söhne GmbH is now pleased to be able to offer the VILLIGER MIAMI LAGUITO NO. 1 in Germany too.

Tasting

The first puff of VILLIGER MIAMI LAGUITO No.1 conveys nuttiness, mild acidity and saltiness.

The main flavour is a blend of leather and earthiness over white pepper, creaminess and the aforementioned saltiness and acidity. The finish has nuttiness, earthiness, white pepper and a mild apple sweetness The flavour is medium-full and the strength is medium-plus.

The visual design

The cigar is offered in a 10-count box perfectly matched to the format in a deep blue colour with gold-coloured lettering. The slim VILLIGER MIAMI LAGUITO NO.1 from the Dominican Republic is an elegant smoking pleasure. With its Desflorado Ecuador wrapper leaf, it provides a mild Dominican flavour and is therefore also ideal for beginners. It is manufactured by our long-standing partner company ABAM in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

How do you smoke a „Laguito“?

An important note about this cigar for all interested smokers. The VILLIGER MIAMI LAGUITO No.1 is a very long, slim cigar. This unusual format should be smoked as slowly as possible, otherwise there is a risk that it will have a slightly pungent and slightly bitter flavour. It is ideal for connoisseurs, but also suitable for beginners who want to enjoy an hour or so of puff after puff in peace.

Robusto to follow in summer 2023

There is more good news for all interested smokers. In summer 2023, the company will launch the VILLIGER MIAMI ROBUSTO with the same tobacco blend as a supplement and also in a limited edition in Germany and Switzerland. This will be a classic Robusto format with a length of 127 mm and a diameter of 19.7 mm. This format will also be offered in an elegant box of 10.

As both the LAGUITO NO. 1 and the ROBUSTO version are very limited editions, collectors of special cigars will probably want to snap them up pretty quickly.
