The stupidest cigar claims - and what they have to do with quantum physics
When it comes to cigars, there are many claims that make even seasoned aficionados break out in a sweat - or grab their heads and lick their eyes with their hands. For many, cigars are a pleasure, a cultural asset, a passion. But where there is passion, there are also myths. And anyone who thought that only quantum physicists suffered from absurd assumptions will be surprised: The world of cigars also has its very own "quantum paradoxes".
Quantum physics and cigars: Only one thing in common -> A lot of nonsense is spread about them. Also pretty funny: I conducted an interview with ChatGPT KI about how he likes the cigars.
The "longest ash" makes the best cigar
"A cigar is only good if the ash stays in one piece!" A sentence that is occasionally uttered with great seriousness. However, the length of the ash has very little to do with the quality of the cigar. It's more about the art of rolling and the consistency of the tobacco leaf.
Quantum parallel: In quantum physics, it is sometimes said: "If you measure an electron, you influence it!" This is true, but also misleading. Just as a long ash is no guarantee of a good cigar, a measurement does not automatically guarantee an "altered" electron - a lot is often read into this.
"Cuban cigars are always the best!"
Ah, the classic! Of course, Cuban cigars are world-famous. But this generalization ignores the fact that the cigar world is much bigger: Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Honduras - each country has its masterpieces. The sweeping statement is about as accurate as: "All cats are black."
Quantum parallel: The famous sentence "An electron is here and there at the same time!" is fascinating, but misleading. It is not everywhere at the same time - it only has a certain probability of being here or there. Similarly, there is no guarantee that every Cuban cigar is good. Sometimes you just catch the wrong moment.
"If the cigar is smoking heavily, it wasn't in the humidor."
A rule that comes up again and again: Cigars that are too dry or too moist taste bad. But then comes the ultimate myth: "You can only give them exactly 70% humidity, otherwise it's nothing!" Well, no cigar has ever turned into a smoke bomb. There are tolerances, and good care is more important than a perfect value.
Quantum parallel: This is reminiscent of the Schrödinger cat: "Is the cat dead or alive?" Just as with the cat, no one knows until you open the box, you won't know what the cigar tastes like until you actually smoke it.
"The price determines the quality."
Expensive cigars have to be good - right? Wrong idea! The price often reflects the rarity or the brand name, not necessarily the quality of the smoking experience. For example, a cheap cigar from Nicaragua can easily outperform a Cuban cigar that costs twice as much.
Quantum parallel: In quantum physics, it is sometimes said: "The more complicated the formula, the more correct the theory!" It is not the complexity that matters, but the precision of the statement. Nor does a high price automatically make a cigar the best choice.
"The cover sheet decides everything!"
Admittedly, the wrapper has a great influence on the taste (remove the wrapper and smoke your favorite cigar without it). But to claim that it all is a short circuit. The filler (filler) and binder (binder leaf) also contribute to the taste. It's the symbiosis that counts - not just the star on the surface.
Quantum parallel: Some claim that the Higgs boson is the "God particle". This sounds impressive, but exaggerates its role in physics. As with the Higgs boson, the cover sheet is only one part of a larger whole.
Conclusion: Cigar myths and quantum fairy tales
Whether cigars or quantum physics - both worlds attract connoisseurs and seekers alike. But while cigar lovers can often be amused by myths, the misunderstandings in quantum physics are often so complicated that they cause confusion. A good tip for both worlds: Enjoy the moment, question what you hear - and don't be led by myths. Whether you're smoking a cigar or trying to understand the universe.
Because sometimes life is simpler than the myths would have us believe. 😊

Follow me 💨🤗
An interesting article with a lot of quantum theory. 😊
I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a CigarKings Maduro Robusto. It was a new discovery and I really liked this cigar, which is also reasonably priced.
By the way, there is a young German scientist, Sabrina Patsch, who runs a blog about quantum physics. Very interesting.
And of course I wish you Vasilij a happy new year and continued success.
But there's not much going on with posts on her blog https://physicus-minimus.com/blog/ But I'm sure she's cool! Should I try to get an interview with her and we'll talk about quantum physical cigar moments of pleasure?
I have read a few articles that were very interesting. Have a look here.

And I think the interview is a great idea. Quantum physical cigar moments of pleasure, you have to let that melt in your mouth.
Exactly!
However, the quantum lady has not yet replied to my e-mail. Maybe she's on vacation or currently orbiting a black hole.
So if it flies too close to the black hole, it may have disappeared into it 😂
I saw a documentary and learned that black holes spit out all the information again (at some point). So the young lady will be thrown out of the black hole again at some point. 😂
o.k. that means wait and see, drink tea and smoke a cigar.
On the subject of only Habanos are the best:
Because of the currently ( at least in Germany ) poor supply of Cuba cigars try
I have a non-Cuba every now and then. They don't satisfy me. In a conversation with a
Experts from 5th Avenue explained to me that if someone wanted to taste the Havana flavor
is used to, other cigars usually do not satisfy him. Although there are of course
there are very good non-Cuba cigars. What do you think?
Hello Wolfgang, once someone has had the Cuba cigar DNA, they can't get rid of it. I personally enjoy many Cuba cigars and many non-Cuba cigars. However, when tasting blind, I can't tell whether the cigar is Cuban or non-Cuban. Let's see if I will ever find out...
Very good article. I admit, a consistent ash fascinates me too. But you're right of course... Yes, it's not so easy to find a decent cigar for a smart price. But almost all problems can be solved if you get to know a good advisor (dealer) 😊
I wish you all the best 🍀 for 2025.
Well, the longer the better, they say. Or maybe it means something else... 😆
ChatGPT also reveals the following myths:
Cigars are only for rich and successful people
Myth: Cigars are a status symbol and only for the elite.
Reality: Cigars are enjoyed by all social classes. They are not a luxury item per se, but a luxury item that is affordable for both beginners and connoisseurs.
Cigars age like wine
Myth: The older a cigar, the better it gets.
Reality: Cigars can indeed mature, but not every cigar benefits from long storage. It depends on the tobacco blend, storage conditions and personal taste.
😅 Ever read my interview with ChatGPT about how he likes cigars and I'm NOT the editor of ZiZo? 🤣 https://www.zigarren.zone/de/chatgpt-enthullt-wie-zigarren-fur-ki-schmecken/
In the end, it is the taste of each individual that decides. I compare this to a red wine, not the most expensive must or is necessarily the best. A "normal" table wine can also please the palate. Have a good smoke
