What good is a humidor from nanimanu.ch really? I tested a humidor from October 2020 to March 2021. These humidors are something very special. Pure wood. Clean lines. No frills. Even varnish is dispensed with. These humidors radiate understatement. They radiate calm. Purely expressed: beauty. What you need to know about NaniManu

The humidors are made in a carpenter's workshop with assisted persons. What are assisted persons? They are disabled people. Each of these people has different talents. What one person can do does not have to be able to do another. It is a useful product. And it is simply beautiful.

First series had defects

After about three months, Andy Hostettler (co-owner) of NaniManu called me. "Vasilij, please take a look at the humidor inside. Probably the wood is resinous?" I was startled, of course, because resin on the cigars and cigar boxes does not go at all. I immediately inspected the humidor. Indeed: both the filler and the body resined strongly. Fortunately, nothing happened to the cigars. They were wrapped in cellophane and three of them were slightly sticky. The entire humidor was replaced, of course. Since then, resin has not reappeared in a single spot. NaniManu solved the problem professionally.

The humidor is tight

By dispensing with varnish altogether, these humidors are different in handling. The wood works more than the mass-produced humidors polished to a high gloss. During almost 6 months of testing, which lasted during the winter until early spring, the humidor was tight and there were no noticeable fluctuations in humidity. I tasted three cigars from the humidor in February. They were all moist enough, as one would expect. After a while, there was a small gap between the lid and the body. Andy mentioned during the interview that this can happen. But because the lid has a bottom edge, the humidor stays tight.

Humidification with Boveda

There is a recess in the lid. You can place Boveda bags there. At the beginning of the test, I placed two Boveda bags with 72% each. During the dry room air in the heating months, this was too little. The bottom layer in the humidor remained between 63-64%. There I placed Cuban cigars because they like less humidity better than too much. On the top floor, the humidity was at 68%. I therefore also placed a Boveda bag at the bottom; now the humidity on the bottom floor was at 68% and on the top floor the humidity stayed at 68%. Thus, the cigars get enough humidity.

It works

In conclusion, I can say: The humidor I tested works and fulfills its technical function; namely to keep the cigars moist. But it is much more than a humidor. For me personally, it is a feast for the eyes. Its no-frills beauty makes it quite a wonderful feast for the eyes for me. I rejoice every time I see him.
