Review VILLIGER 1492 Campañas - Small format, big surprise

VILLIGER 1492 Campañas - tried them yet? If cigars could talk, this one would say: "Small but mighty!" The new cigar from the VILLIGER 1492 series is like a fine espresso in cigar format - short, rich in flavor and completely satisfying. Available since June 03, 2025 - in Germany and Switzerland. I tested three of them. Here is my review exclusively for the readers of Zigarren.Zone.

What the VILLIGER 1492 Campañas will tell you here

Almost too cute to light on fire
The short, rounded head catches the eye at first glance. Almost too cute to light up - but only almost. Because what looks like a small exotic in the humidor is actually a fully-fledged premium cigar that fits seamlessly into the popular 1492 family - and sets a striking accent.

A journey into the past
The name VILLIGER 1492 is no coincidence: it commemorates the year in which Christopher Columbus brought tobacco from the New World to Europe on his voyage of discovery. The series is therefore a tribute to this historic turning point - and enjoying these cigars feels exactly the same: like a little voyage of discovery.
It's all in the mix
The tobacco composition is a true VILLIGER classic: the filler comes from the sun-drenched Cibao Valley in the Dominican Republic - mild and aromatic.
- Indonesian binder - slightly earthy, some wood.
- Wrapper leaf from Ecuador - delicate, creamy, makes the whole thing round.

These high-quality cigars offer the finest aromas of wood, nut and toast - slightly sweet, perfectly balanced and never overpowering. A cigar that is elegantly restrained and yet leaves a lasting impression.
Pleasure in compact form
The result: a pleasantly light smoke with a creamy base note. No show effects, no nicotine hammer - just casual elegance in a small tailor-made suit. I particularly liked the smoking time of around 45 minutes, ideal for a well-kept break or an aperitif.
And if you are wondering what "Campaña" means, it is not just a melodious name, but refers to an entire tobacco growing cycle - a tribute to the care with which this blend is created.
With the Campañas, VILLIGER is now launching the eighth format in the 1492 series - and still remains true to itself: high-quality tobaccos, beautifully shaped vitolas, stylish appearance. Between Short Perfecto and Long Panetela, this small torpedo is a welcome addition with character.

Conclusion
- A must for fans of mild cigars.
- An ideal introduction for beginners.
- An exciting addition for collectors, but do not leave to mature for long. The cigar is very mild and would lose its aroma from the second year of storage at the latest.
- A charming surprise for €7.30 (D) or CHF 8.20 (CH).
