The special cut is intended to make the smoke cooler
This special cutting technique cools the smoke in the mouth.
The figurado formats are generally cut very little. If the draw resistance is too low, a little more is cut off. In the Don Alejandro's cigar lounge in Dietlikon (near Zurich), the owner showed me a very special cut for this format. The cigar opens at a slight angle. As a result, it retains its figurado shape and the draw resistance is optimal.

About the glow after lighting in this format
Once lit, the Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Salomons glows excellently, even at the narrow point at the foot of the cigar.
The ash is compact and holds well.
With this format, many brands often experience skewed or wedge firing at the beginning. This is because the roller has to bring the tobacco into a narrowing "channel". As the tobacco is not perfectly positioned there, uneven glowing can occur in this phase. As soon as the thickest part of the cigar is reached, the smouldering normalizes, as the entire amount of tobacco is present there.
Tasting notes of the Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Salomones
The balance is excellent in the first half: slightly acidic, slightly salty, subtle taste of sweet, bittersweet cocoa, some earth and a little wood. The nut aromas are somewhat more pronounced. The smell of the smoke is spicy and pleasant.
Burning is problem-free. It rarely needs the flame to correct it.
The further development is exciting: the Gilbert de Montsalvat Anniversary Salomones remains at a strength of 3/5, gets a little more sweet cocoa notes, a little more nutty and less acidity. The wood becomes a little more prominent and leather is added.
Be sure to try it.
This cutting technique is the best I know for the figurado shape.

So actually I should only have written about the Salomones. But as the votes for the Salomones and the Gran Robusto were not that far apart, I decided to write a review of both.
