Welcome to the Zigarren.Zone Forum - Your community for cigar lovers
Are you a cigar aficionado or would you like to get to know the world of cigars? The Zigarren.Zone forum is the right place for you! Like-minded people meet here to talk about cigars, smoking pleasure and everything that goes with it.
In downtown Chicago, there are a few cigar stores with a few seats in front of them that are occupied by cigar smokers. There are also a few bars and jazz pubs from which the familiar smell emanates and one or two Americans strut through the streets smoking a big cigar. One can therefore attest to a liberal attitude to cigar smoking in this city.
It's usually easy to strike up a conversation with the local cigar smokers. The topic of Habanos also comes up quickly and you will receive envious recognition if you identify yourself as European.
If you want to indulge in a cigar in peace and quiet, we recommend a visit to Biggs Mansion 1150 North Dearborn Street. This is a house in typical Chicago style that is home to a cigar club. The upper floors and terrace are therefore reserved for club members. However, there is a public cigar store in the basement with a walk-in humidor and a cosy smoking room with space for 8 smokers in comfortable armchairs. In contrast to the club rooms, however, the public lounge can be quite lonely.
Another smoking club in Chicago is The Claiton at 212 North Canal Street, which also has branches in D.C. and Miami. In Chicago, the club also houses a cigar store. The private club rooms extend over three floors of the building and offer chilled-out seating areas and a bar in the basement, where hard-working young ladies ensure that no member or guest goes thirsty. Nothing works here without Habanos. Alternatively, a vintage Davidoff is also welcome. It's good if you know one of the important members here and are invited. Then you can be let into the rooms from the back of the house by the receptionist. The members are wealthy Chicago business people. But police officers and other "ordinary" people can also be found here. They all share a love of cigars, especially Cuban cigars.
Some members already have real treasures of vintage Habanos in their club humidor. The humidors at home are home to cigars worth a 7-digit dollar amount. It's really, really great to spend an evening here.
