Asylum April Fools 9×90 the thickest cigar in the world

Asylum April Fools 9×90 is the thickest cigar in the world. Today I would like to share my experience with the Asylum April Fools 90×9 cigar. Originally intended as an April Fools joke, it has found its way into the production line due to its popularity with customers. It is undoubtedly a real head-turner, as its imposing 90×9 dimensions (36mm diameter x 228 mm length) make it a real challenge for cigar aficionados. The manufacturer Christian L. Eiroa is crazy 😅

Asylum April Fools

I have never puffed such a thick and long cigar!

The cutting of the Asylum April Fools 9×90

Asylum April Fools

Cutting only works with a knife, scissors or puncher.

Asylum April Fools

I cut them with a knife to make sure all the air channels were clear.

Asylum April Fools

In hindsight, I'd rather advise the Puncher; smoking becomes much easier.

Before I get into the flavor of the cigar, I want to emphasize that the cutting requires an unusual approach. Conventional cutting methods fail because of the size of the cigar, so I recommend using either a knife or a puncher. I opted for the knife to make sure all the air passages were clear, but in hindsight, I would rather advise the puncher. It makes smoking much easier.

The kindling

Asylum April Fools

Holy cow!

With this diameter, of course, you need a lot of patience! After a long "roasting phase" it was finally time. The first few puffs were also challenging until Asylum April Fools 9×90 glowed evenly.

The puffing of the Asylum April Fools 9×90

Asylum April Fools

Smoking time: Over three hours.

At the first puff, I quickly realized that the handling of this giant cigar is a particular challenge. I had to completely enclose the cigar with my lips, which was not so easy because of the diameter. So smoking turned out to be more cumbersome than usual.

Smoking it for longer than three hours would be a mammoth task even for experienced aficionados. I smoked about a third of the cigar.

Asylum April Fools

It glows excellent and long. The Asylum April Fools 90×9 is rolled excellently.

The taste

Asylum April Fools

You need a big ashtray 😅

In terms of taste, the giant cigar can not quite keep up with its size. The first third reveals light nutty, woody, peppery and bittersweet cocoa notes, which are accompanied by a slightly acidic component. Although there is nothing wrong with the quality of the tobaccos used, I personally found it lacking the depth and sophistication that I find in other premium cigars. But that's not tragic at all, because it does taste good and a real eye-catcher it certainly is! 😅

The quality

Asylum April Fools

Perfectly rolled. Look at the uniform tip after ash removal!

Nevertheless, I would like to emphasize that the Asylum April Fools 90×9 is rolled excellently. The draw resistance is very light and it smolders excellent and long. The ash is compact and stable. For a special occasion or as a conversation piece at a meeting with cigar lovers, it is undoubtedly perfectly suited.

All in all, I think the Asylum April Fools 90×9 is an interesting experiment that will certainly appeal to cigar lovers. Anyone looking for an unusual cigar to add to their collection and cause a stir should definitely give it a try.

  1. A blatant thing. I myself had smoked the Presidente Robusto 30 with 30mm diameter and 125mm length. Was also a nice experience but also not a full pleasure. By the way, there is one with 50mm diameter from this brand. There is also a nice video on Youtube how to smoke this. For me, however, too much...

    1. Such giant cigars are excellent for marketing the brand and I like that very much. However, they are not a pleasure for me personally. 😅

  2. Wonderful stick, guaranteed a challenge! I just imagine that one with the part in the car, interior toootal fogged, gets into a traffic conntrolle. (Like Cheech & Chong "Much smoke for nothing") Window driver's side down, thick clouds of smoke pull out of the car, the stogie hangs at the corner of the mouth. Another strong puff, blow out and then the speech: "Well, Mr. Officer, where does the shoe pinch..." Head cinema, I throw myself away, the facial expression of the traffic policeman: priceless!

    1. 🤣 The other day at the police checkpoint. Policeman: "Drugs, alcohol, cigars?" - Me: "Whew, no thanks, I've had enough today!" Or alternatively ME: "I forbid myself this begging!" 🤣
