A moment of pleasure from Cuba: My experience with the Saint Luis Rey Exclusivo Alemania
I allowed myself the rare pleasure of testing three examples of the Saint Luis Rey Exclusivo Alemania. I enjoyed all three examples with particular devotion, because importing such cigars is a (small) adventure: the Cuban supply situation has been a challenge for some years now, and even with perfect planning it is not guaranteed that the goods will arrive on time. This makes me appreciate the opportunity to enjoy these cigars all the more.

I cut the cigar on the side. This preserves the shape of the cigar and allows for a softer, cooler smoke.
External impression before lighting
The cigars present themselves with a silky smooth wrapper in an even medium brown color - a treat for the eyes. The cold draw offers a subtle, earthy note that leaves you wanting more.

A special moment of pleasure.
Lighting and first impression
Lighting up was smooth and the draw quality was a little too soft for me personally, resulting in a lower draw resistance. However, this is a matter of preference and not an objective weakness of the cigar. The first taste revealed a subtle but pleasant blend of light woody and grassy notes. The burn was impeccable and the room note surprised with a hint of floral aroma.
During the smoke

The driver of the car smokes while driving. Well, I never do that. 😁
The aromas developed further over the course of smoking. Particularly noteworthy is the balance between spicy and nutty notes, accompanied by a slight sweetness. The taste showed a constant increase without ever being overpowering. The aftertaste remained pleasantly mild with a hint of leather and cocoa. And wood. And nut. 😅
The magic of maturity: a cigar with a future
In the course of the second half, the cigar develops a sharper and slightly bitter note. However, this is not a fault of the cigar, but a sign that it still needs time to mature. Two to three years of storage will do it good, because in my opinion it has excellent ageing potential. My rating is a solid 89 points, but it will certainly exceed 90 points in a few years' time.
Conclusion
The Saint Luis Rey Exclusivo Alemania is a prime example of what makes Cuban cigars so special. The combination of craftsmanship, taste and the story behind each cigar makes it a treasure for every aficionado. A clear recommendation if you have the opportunity to purchase them - and the patience to let them mature!

I really appreciate special moments like this with a cigar like this.
The Saint Luis Rey Belicosos from the Edición Regional Alemania go on sale

The "Saint Luis Rey" brand was introduced just before the Second World War.
And another premiere! For the first time in its 35-year history, 5THAvenue Products - the official exclusive importer of Habanos for Germany, Austria and Poland - has selected the Saint Luis Rey brand for a format of the Edición Regional Alemania. The SAINT LUIS REY BELICOSOS have the "Campana" format. Literally translated, it means "bell", because this beautiful figurado format is indeed somewhat reminiscent of such a bell. A Campana has a length of 140 mm and a ring gauge of 52. Campanas are one of Habanos' classic formats and can be found in the standard Habanos range as Bolívar Belicosos Finos, Romeo y Julieta Belicosos, San Cristóbal de La Habana La Punta or Sancho Panza Belicosos.
The limited edition of Saint Luis Rey Belicosos comprises 6,000 individually numbered boxes, each containing 25 of these aromatic cigars. As is typical of the brand, the boxes are arranged in two layers and decorated with the lithographs known in Cuba as "habilitaciones".

Vitola: Campana; dimensions: 140 mm x RM 50.
The "Saint Luis Rey" brand was introduced just before the Second World War.
Some claim that the brand name refers to the play "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" by Thornton Wilder, which was popular at the time. However, it is more likely that it is dedicated to the town of San Luis in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo, where excellent wrappers for Habanos are still produced today.
Whatever the truth, the Habanos of the Saint Luis Rey brand enjoy an excellent reputation among aficionados due to their intense flavor. Only the "Regios" format is currently produced in the standard range. It consists of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco-growing zone.
The Saint Luis Rey Belicosos are "totalmente a mano, tripa larga" - long fillers made entirely by hand.

EUR 20.00/pc - a more than fair price for such a cigar!
